Not on topic, but if you both smoke why?

Ah, out of lockdown and back to this shit. 2 years of bliss and now back to this idiotic non tradition of Australia. They are getting 10 positives a day at the Covid testing centre where I live, so no doubt responsible parents will have their children door knocking.
Children are germ magnets whether people want to admit it or not. My mates sister in law works in child care and this week got covid from one. She promptly infected his brother. My mate is staying clear, but has he had any partial contact with them ? He doesn't think so, but I have spent a full day at his house. Thankfully we are all vaccinated, but his brother and sister in law are of VERY average health and fitness and are extremely ill.

I see my neighbours are already starting their Halloween party. To cut a long story short, prior to covid, they were giving out over 500 bags of lollies every Halloween night with the number increasing every year. They have now made my street a " go to zone" for trick or treaters aged from 2 to 22.

I have 4 different signs plastered over the front of my house stating Covid Quarantine zone Do Not Enter. I don't have a front fence, but have blocked every entry point with wheelie bins with Covid Quarantine signs. I have no doubt some will ignore them.

I am hoping in the next 2 years to fully fence my property. It would be nice not to, given I live opposite bush land. But along with this idiotic "tradition", we also have idiots trying to out do each other with Christmas decorations which has resulted in large groups of people walking the street looking at Christmas lights......every night for 4 - 6 weeks.

From previous threads, it would seem no one has it quite as bad as me, ie, 500+ kids a night but has it changed ? Unfortunately it's a warm day here, which will bring them out of their slumber. Of course the supermarkets, doing their bit for public safety, are advertising all sorts of Halloween items. Don't let anything stand in the way of a dollar

I've got a solution for this you're not going to like.

In general there is a bit of nationalism tied to this that it is an American thing and not an Australian thing. Meh.
Then there is the commercialisation of a subject because somebody stands to make a lot of money from it while you pay for it.
My personal favourite is that Obesity and Diabetes are a growing problem in Australia and giving sugar to kids might be comparable to giving them nicotine.

I think the seriousness of each point is in reverse order. The last it the real concern.

So despite all that I'm now picking up on Halloween as one of my religious days.
The Temple of Satan claims Halloween as one of it's most important days to celebrate.
Naturally Christians loose their fvkcing shit about this and their responses are hilarious. So halloween gets great publicity as being satanic.
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.

All signs are looking like threats of the plague are working. Parents are herding children in wide arcs around my house....did I mention they start from 3PM here and go to at least 9PM (based on recent years)

Pay for a year and a bit old {ahem} 'news' story?...nah, not on your life ; mum lives up that way ... ....iirc, 1 priest and a dozen bible bashers turned up on the footpath outside, trying to save the wicked ; the wicked won (but there's some legal educational stoush going on)

Also... "Halloween gives queer people a chance to let their freak flag fly and be as explicit and insane looking as possible."

Happily in my neighbourhood have only seen a couple of houses ornamented with Halloween crap. Lately it seems to have faded out somewhat, probably due to Covid.

Have seen a few kids wandering about in costumes, only a very few, and in broad daylight. I thought the idea was to go out at night so as to scare people

Anyhow hope the little (and not some so little) horrors do not turn up.

Good to read that your creativity has worked for you.

No other children appear to exist in our area. If there are then they must all be on their gadgets.

I even took the risk to work outside on a defective front security camera. That was around 18:00 which in the past was halloween peak hour.
Not a soul on the street.

Quiet night in our street, looks like i will have to eat all the remaining sweets now and probably be hypo for the next 48 hours
Every body in our street makes an effort to get along together, (approx 30 houses) and if that means Halloween for the kids, so be it
In fact if in a hurry, never walk out to the path or you will get involved in a conversation
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"

Post Halloween nobody, kids or older turned up in my street after dark. Only a very few houses had Halloween decorations so hopefully Halloween will fizzle out as time goes by.

Trouble is the commercial interests will just keep pushing it on the young.....

    No, commercial interests have changed.
What I said above that the kids only want to be on their gadgets is valid.

Our kids are controlled by the gaming industry and social media which is now set to be a total virtual experience.
Already next year they could be knocking on all their 'friends' doors in a virtual world and get virtual lollies in form of gaming credits or something.
Of course they will have to pay for the virtual costumes as well, except those few who are smart enough to code their own.

Eventually they will not want to leave this Meta matrix as they can play, socialise and work there all at the same time and celebrate Halloween every day.
Therefore these individuals will be connected to an IV catheter that supplies them with the exact amount of nutrients, fluids and happy drugs so they don't even need to leave their physical position for urination and defecation.
Dealing with ejaculate may still be an issue.
This also perfectly solves all our climate change targets as they don't need to drive vehicles anymore or cook food and even the power for heating and A/C can be kept to a minimum as they only need to temperate the tiny cubicle their bodies reside in. Best of all there is very little waste because shopping has become virtual.

But then we will have those leftovers like me who do not wish to participate in this Meta life.
They will be burdened with the responsibility to keep all these things up and running, in my case technical repairs, robotics and improvements, others providing medical support for the bodies and those with no skills can clean up after calibration errors with the IV and deal with the ejaculate.

Eventually all us 'service' people will get old and die(our kids have all entered Meta) and the human race will fade away as even the service robots will eventually become dysfunctional because we were all so busy keeping the bodies and system alive that we forgot to make the robots capable of procreation.

A lot of them seem to be almost there now.
I walked into a pub for the first time in quite a while the other night to grab some take-aways and looking along the nearly full bar every single one of them was sitting there with their heads buried in their stupid phones.
It really was a pathetic sight.
It shall be somewhat amusing if the internet goes down properly for a week or two, all these d*ckheads that live glued to a screen will be lost
Always try to offend at least one person snowflake a day!
    Stop using acronyms!!

Way back on page-1, someone said... "Geez listen to the grumpy old men!!"...
I know we need certain global ties for trade/politics with certain countries, but I hate us becoming (already!!) little-America!!
Yep, I'm old, and want Australia to remain as such! I know it seems a small thing, but NOW we have kids with backwards baseball
caps, and 'Rap' crap music(?) that have nothing to do with Australia!! We need to get our own identities back...
Christmas is crazy enough, with SNOW in Australia??

    How?
We have FaceBook and Climate Change.
Identities? They are already stolen and copied a bazillion times.
Those old days can never come back.

But Australia is still hanging on to a lot more of them than in any other 'democratic' country I know and have lived in.

We are certainly not little America because of a dying Halloween slip up, we are due to trade and ally agreements and if we were NOT allies with the USA we would be their enemies. So I suppose it is better it stays that way ...for now.
