Ah, out of lockdown and back to this shit. 2 years of bliss and now back to this idiotic non tradition of Australia. They are getting 10 positives a day at the Covid testing centre where I live, so no doubt responsible parents will have their children door knocking.
Children are germ magnets whether people want to admit it or not. My mates sister in law works in child care and this week got covid from one. She promptly infected his brother. My mate is staying clear, but has he had any partial contact with them ? He doesn't think so, but I have spent a full day at his house. Thankfully we are all vaccinated, but his brother and sister in law are of VERY average health and fitness and are extremely ill.
I see my neighbours are already starting their Halloween party. To cut a long story short, prior to covid, they were giving out over 500 bags of lollies every Halloween night with the number increasing every year. They have now made my street a " go to zone" for trick or treaters aged from 2 to 22.
I have 4 different signs plastered over the front of my house stating Covid Quarantine zone Do Not Enter. I don't have a front fence, but have blocked every entry point with wheelie bins with Covid Quarantine signs. I have no doubt some will ignore them.
I am hoping in the next 2 years to fully fence my property. It would be nice not to, given I live opposite bush land. But along with this idiotic "tradition", we also have idiots trying to out do each other with Christmas decorations which has resulted in large groups of people walking the street looking at Christmas lights......every night for 4 - 6 weeks.
From previous threads, it would seem no one has it quite as bad as me, ie, 500+ kids a night but has it changed ? Unfortunately it's a warm day here, which will bring them out of their slumber. Of course the supermarkets, doing their bit for public safety, are advertising all sorts of Halloween items. Don't let anything stand in the way of a dollar
