Default Google Maps - Speed Indication

I had to go somewhere yesterday so googled the business on my phone and the phone showed where to go on Google Maps - rather than transfer the location to my Garmin I decided to use the phone as a street navigator. Worked OK but there was no speed indication - I was navigating under the car option.

When I got home I went into settings etc expecting to see "enable speed" but nothing was obvious.

Goggled "show speed google maps" and it would seem it is not possible which I find odd for an app designed for street navigation.

So have I missed something? Is a vehicle speed indication available on Google maps? I appreciate there are apps that do this perfectly but just curious about a speed indication in google maps.

    Thanks

    Garry

Obviously its a software option thats currently not available for their Maps.
Do you mean the speed you were doing at the time or the Posted Speed limits?
I did think most if not all GPS devises today show your current speed and well as the posted limit which of course needs to be watched in case there have been changes to it.
That Google Maps dont have this available is a little odd I think.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

I think (guessing) that it is available on the professional Google Maps, the one people like Linfox use to track their trucks. They have large monitors showing metropolitan area and the trucks are indicated as to where they are on the map and can be zoomed into
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"

Default Google Maps with Velociraptor - Speed Limits & Speedometer

The lack of the current vehicle speed and speed limits on Google Maps has been a bit of an issue for quite some time.
If you use Android you can use Velociraptor to display the speed and speed limit.
