Also consider that the 3G network probably only has a limited service life left, you may be more 'future-proof' getting something 4G / LTE?

Thanks for the replies. Hard to find a 4G Tracker at a reasonable price with external aerial connections for GPS and GSM.\

I hope at 3G will be in the bush until 2025 by then 4G trackers will be more available.

One potential 4G tracker only meets one Telstra frequency of 900 Mhz, does this mean it will have limited use in the bush. ie Telstra transmits on all frequencies and the receiver only picks up the strongest signal?

    Thanks

    Peter

I am sure 4G in my area is only available on 700Mhz so I would be wary of buying anything that does NOT cover all the bands.
I think that 700 Mhz band was only made available here in the last 12/18 Months or so.
It seems to me that those of us in regional/rural areas, these services can vary Tower to Tower and that can depend on how old the installation is and how many users it has.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Am looking at getting the MT600 Plus AU or 600 Plus AUT below, If you see any problems please let me know.

How do you tell which unit will work with Telstra if they have the same frequencies, to me the signals must have different codes. I need the unit that works with the Big T.

    Thanks

    Peter

That MT600 Plus AU looks like a decent thing, I'd be interested to hear feedback on that one if you do buy it Peter?

Is that $99 in AUD or USD?

Pity there's not more information available from their website, like an installation manual or similar, specifically more about the additional I/O functionality (whether all of those I/O's are available or you have to choose just one), it's a little unclear?

Take a note of the frequencies allocated to each band then check that the phone your interested can receive those bands.
As said before, my nearby Town has had 4G for a few years but its only since the closure of 2G my nearest Tower has had 4G made available but only on the 700Mhz band.
Apart from checking the carrier you prefer covers your area, the phone itself MUST be able to receive all of the frequencies.

    Hi Peter,

MT600 Plus AU,MT600 Plus AUT and MT600 Plus E version can work in Australia.
According to our tests, the MT600 Plus E version is more suitable for use in Australia.
E version can work with Telstra, Optus and Vofafone. The AUT version mainly works with Telstra's 4G network.

If you don't need fuel detection, you can choose another 4g gps tracker MT600.This unit is cheaper than MT600 Plus.

Just ordered the MT600 AU with accessories : GPS Antenna, 4G Antenna, Power wire, SOS Button, SIM Card tray and User Manual.

The free shipping time is 15 - 20 days.

I ordered the AU rather than the cheaper 600 E because the AU has the 4G 700Mhz frequency that gordon mentioned above. Its probably something for the future because out bush it will probably be mostly 3G until 3G closes-es down sometime between 2020 and 2025?

Will do a in city test and let you know the result when the gear arrives.

    Peter
