Grayscale Wutip was taken at the highest resolution which is red at 644nm - 0.5km per pixel. The problem the infrared bands is that they are lower resolution. For fine detail, you need to keep the red band. Old RGB astronomy trick, you can keep the high resolution image for RGB colour, even though lower resolution bands are used, if the highest resolution channel is stacked onto the low res colour composite as a luminance layer. Choose whatever channels for chrominance.
For Himawaricast, they don't include blue or green so a false colour image has to be made from 2 infrared and one visible. This causes the cyan clouds. Sometimes I desaturate then to make them look more natural.
Wutip animation.
i have stuffed around decoding the sat data and its a mess.
any TBS card and using tbsip or crazyscan to send data to ip will work the hard part is the KENCAST software after that it is simple.
crazyscan allows you to dump it to harddrive to then dig through the data.
Cyclone Pola near Fiji. Has an odd vertical rift running through it. Obviously a temporal space-time rift.
Stunning pictures Learjet! Very curious about the intricacies of your setup!
You have PM Michael.
By the way I asked the BOM about that rift and their reply was...
"Our meteorologists reckon it's some type of 'soliton' or solitary wave—possibly an 'undular bore'. These can be triggered when a gravity current (e.g. convective outflow) impinges on a low-level stable layer. Downdraughts and cold pools are mostly weak with a developing cyclone (due to moist mid-levels), but on the periphery of the main circulation there could be some drier mid-level air. Cool sea-surface temperatures just to the east of the main Fiji islands might provide the stable layer."
Oh well looks like I won’t be eating for a couple of months as I save up for the Software. As explained earlier in the posts a TBS Sat card will work as an alternative to a modem once configured. So at least I have that covered.
There is a cheaper version of software available just not sure if it’s compatable here
Thanks for the Informative thread Learjet.
Learjet (09-03-19)
I think software from USA Satcom might work. It works for the GOES sats. It's cheaper, but the guy that writes / sells the software hasn't replied to my queries. Why does everyone have to make it so hard...?
Cyclone Savannah in the Indian ocean with Sun reflection. With curve and cropped. Rotated 110 degrees CW. 9 band composite.
Cyclone Trevor at 9:10am this morning.
Two for the price of one. Cyclone Trevor to the east and Veronica to the west.
Cyclone Veronica category 4 verses Western Australia.
Trevor at 0510UT.
Caught the Moon half hiding behind the Earth again today at 0010UT.
The Earth from Himawari 8 made from images taken over the last day and a half. It took 92GB of data to make this short video. Himawaricast via Jcsat2B, 2.3 metre dish, Novra S300D receiver, Xrit2pic, Pixillian and Makeavi.
I used a blend of visible and infrared channels to make the night side visible.
Cyclone Lorna out in the Indian ocean, half way to Africa. Received at 0800UT / 6pm EST. Image has been rotated.
Cyclone Fani near India. Received at 1010UT.
Cyclone Ann off the Queensland coast looking impressive at 0430UT this afternoon.
I quite like this one. Moonrise looking east over the Pacific. Received at 0000UT on the 15-05-2019.
