I remember my Friend telling me his service had a few hiccups one time doing similar to what you have described and at that time, OPTUS was doing some reported upgrades to the tower he uses because of his Location and after a period, the service settled down and has been stable ever since except for the odd problems that occur at the best of times.

Just going to keep this one alive for the time being. Optus's new service for us to contact them is off to a great start. The 24 hour promise is broken already! I would hope it is because they are actually looking for an answer. I'm sure they will get back to me eventually!

Ok, I may have to eat my words
I'm 2 hours from home and just ran a speed test.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Don't hold your breath, Optus was going to get back to us about the cutover date for our telephone service 20 odd years ago!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Just got a response. They confirm they are not capping. They say they were doing some work on Mobile Towers near me "around the end of October". They suggest I reset my Network Settings if I am still getting slow speeds.

I did this and tried the phone and am back between 5 and 6 Mbps which seems to be normal here. Hopefully this means I will still be getting 15 Mbps when I visit Wollongong. Sounds like there may be maintenance or problems at individual towers. In any even, it seems the problem is not everywhere.

Sometimes it pays to have a look in your Main Newspaper or local even as the Carriers post notices regarding upgrades/updates to their Towers.
I think this is more to stop them being called or chased up for any service claims rather than informing their customers of whats going on.

I'm not sure that I achieved much and it probably varies from phone to phone. I changed the mobile broadband settings to manual and connected to YesOptus. Then I reverted to automatic and rebooted. To be quite honest I'm not sure if it made much difference or if it even reset anything. All I can say for sure is the connection speed is now improved.

I'm visiting Wollongong briefly. In fact even more briefly than I intended. Yesterday was not a good day to fly into Sydney.

I'm getting consistent download speeds of 11Mbps here this afternoon with my Optus sim. which is well within the range I was getting before. Upload speed has been under 1Mbps, but that isn't of concern to me. Anyone still experiencing problems? And Ocean Boy? Your speed at Geelong was impressive. But have your speeds elsewhere gone back to normal?

Ironic, i was just speaking with another Optus $3 user for the last hour.

We swapped out modems for him, he now gets 9's and me here has been 7-8's
When i'm Warrnambool, i get high 20's (aka that was the Geelong server)

It is currently bucketing down - ping 58 download 0.18Mbps upload 0.14Mbps ...

EDIT: Yes the 0 before the decimal point is correct!

Sorry to hear that Guiseppe. Do you attribute this to the fact it is bucketing down? What speeds have you been getting?

I'll chime in, my Optus $3 Day speeds have been back up and stable again
Far better than the Vodafone (Kogan) SIM i've been testing

Speeds are always pretty poor - recently I have not been able to watch back-to-back episodes from SBS without buffering - I believe that after a certain amount of download the speed is throttled which exacerbates the situation.

    I am in a hilly area ...

Yes, definitely due to the rain.

I have not yet activated mine - I will wait until nearer 14/1/2019. Your problems went away or ...

It seems ironic, but often after issues are posted, they are corrected (coinsistence?)
My speeds are not what they used to be at home, no more 30Mb/s, more like 7's
But at another town i can still manage 30Mb/s consistently ..... Strange.

With Summer Holiday about to hit and 20,000 visitors about to arrive, i will check how it works.
Previous years its been fine, this year i am concerned.

The Kogan Vodafone is slow and often stops for short amounts of time

Ok, just monitored my Optus $3 Days usage for the month (cycle) in preparation to move to another product.

Optus $3 Days - Used 50.2Gb for the cycle
Considering i was also testing a Kogan SIM and used 18GB on it for the same cycle

Fair to say i would have used 68Gb for the cycle.

Optus does have a 80Gb 12month deal out there for $45 a month on 4G, but the only catch is, if you go over the 80Gb, they charge you $10 per Gb.
Not sure if you can opt out of that? Or if its an automatic charge.

Either way, it exactly half the price of the $3 Day service.

BUT, i'm reading they screw Video streaming down to 1.5Mbs and Audio streaming to 512Kb
Not sure how they tell where the data is coming ???? To deiced if they will shape it.

    Here is the offer:
