Saw it yesterday, amazing she is alive and managed to make a Twitter post saying she was ok, just has a cracked vertebrae
Hows the way it rips off 3 sheets of roofing iron on that media stand
You'll need to find the other views for that
It caught her like a big catchers mitt
270kph they estimate her closing speed, seems a bit of an over statement.
But it was bloody fast none the less

Are you sure it wasn't a new "secret weapon" overtaking move?
seriously, that would have to go down as one of the more speccy bits of acrobatics performed by race cars of any variety. It's testimony to the design that the driver "walked away" IYKWIM.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

And backwards to boot, definitely a brown stain in the pants moment, and not just for her either. Wow that was fast.
Cheers

Ahh that tells more of the story.
as the driver behind observed,
Ferrari junior Guan Yu Zhou, who was in the car directly behind Floersch at the time of the accident, said a yellow caution light might have distracted her.
'First of all it was such a scary moment,' Guan said.
'Coming after Mandarin [the preceding right-hand kink], I saw the yellow, but I think it was just a mistake by the organisers' station.
'Sophia was really close to Jehan, so when Jehan braked early she had no time to react.
'She hit Jehan's right-rear, and that spun her around straight into Lisboa, and she flew into the other car. I just hope she's OK.'
Cheers, Tiny
"You can lead a person to knowledge, but you can't make them think? If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
Notice the cameraman in the covered stand duck.... damn... that car looked like it was fired from a canon!
My first thought was that it had gone straight into the building. She'll be back.
The cars' for sale apparently, only used on weekends

I wonder if her age should be taken into consideration when racing at such high speeds and potentially killing other drivers?
I guess they race them very young in Moto3 and probably karting too.

Hmmmm....maybe, but I wouldn't have thought ANY racing organisation would engage a driver who was not up to the task, regardless of age....it's a horrendously expensive business.

Karting usually starts at around 7 or 8. You can attain a lot of experience by 17. In this case I'd say the risk involved says more about the track than the driver. Having said that, the fence did a pretty good job didn't it? Almost like a perfect tailhook landing on an aircraft carrier.

Her engine/throttle light probably came on and she was busy texting her boyfriend to find out what it meant.............

Yes, have seen some very talented kids and teenagers with excellent/brilliant driving skills that would put most adults to shame, my only concern is that at that age the "indestructible" side of being that age dampens their self preservation instincts, however the flip side to that is with these kids/teenagers they are taught the skills at an early age to handle these situations, unfortunately sometimes you can be any age and no matter what skills or instincts you have you just get the rotten end of the stick, if you survive well and good if you don't, well, you knew the consequences.
I'm not very familiar with the girl, but I am with the processes involved and would be confident in saying to be driving at the level she is, she would have more driving talent in her little finger than I would in my entire body. Leave ageism out of this, who are we to question someones abilities in such a situation.
Cheers
