Just kidding, my bench vise looks almost exactly like "before" on that first video and I have no intention to change anything about that.

I do remember years ago messing around with electrolysis to clean old keys and other dug up 'treasures' with limited results. I also tried a piece of copper pipe as the anode.
I did not use sodium carbonate and rebar though, so this looks more promising, and yes I used the slider to watch the video, which could have been done in a single minute.
