    Default TELSTRA NEXT G Question

Hello I purchased a pre paid Samsung A411 next G mobile phone today, my question is can I use my old sim card in this phone to use the next G coverage?

I do not want to use the next G features, I only want the next G coverage that is all?

    Thanks Yobbo

Does the old sim card say on it NextG?
If not no, you will just be on standard GSM coverage.

you might have to call Telstra up to activate NextG services (i.e: coverage, 3G broadband extra services ect) on your account.

The best way to avoid all the extra services that come with nextG is to change the APN from the handset settings, that way you just get coverage only.

With the A411 since its a pretty basic handset (there is no Video (sending) call opton with this handset) you should be ok to avoid using all the additional nextg services.

Worst case, again simply call Telstra up and get them to attach your current mobile number to the new nextg SIM card, from there any stored numbers on the old SIM card can be transfered accross to the new nextG sim card by simply inserting the old sim card into the A411, saving the numbers to internal phone memory, take the old sim card out insert the new nextg sim card in and transfer the internal phone memory to the nextg sim card, the A411 should have that option to do just that.
