Default Gps fixes fine after reset but then wont fix after power on/off

    Hi All

i have been a long time lurker and finally decided to sign up a while ago.

I have had this issues for a while and dont know how/why it started.

When i power on my witson gps, this one () it finds gps satellites really fast, in about 10-15 seconds and acquires a fix. If i turn off the engine or power off then on again it wont fix at all. It may find 1 or 2 satellites but wont fix at all.

If i hit the small reset button with a pencil on the front of the unit, turn it on, instant fix in about 15 seconds. Power off and it wont fix, this cycle repeats itself. Im completely stumped.

I have tried a new gps receiver, sirftech utility (im not sure this is doing anything as i tried to change from Nmea to Sirf and nothing happened)

So it only the gps aspect that doesnt work.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Edit: i should say that to check if there are satellites i use the inbuilt gps info function that shows satellites and if it has a fix or not, not the igo primo software. if the inbuilt gps info function shows a fix then primo shows a fix and if no fix then primo obviously shows no fix.
