Newbie needing advise
Hi Guys,
I live in Adelaide, and like many people have just acquired a new house with a (presumably) Foxtel dish attached. I have Foxtel via go, and don’t really have a need for Foxtel via satellite, but the prospect of using the dish has me thinking about options.
My wife is Polish, and somewhat misses some of her old tv programming from back home. Is it possible to acquire some of the Polish TV channels (which are generally free to air) via a satellite I am capable of accessing?
I am a third year electrical engineering student, so I like to think I have quite some electronics knowledge. Is there a specific decoder that I need, or might be best suited to my need? I am already running multiple media centres, PC and Linux base and would happily convert one of them to the cause if necessary. I just have no idea where to start...
Does anyone have any advice/pointers/resources to get me going? Is it even possible to pick up European TV broadcast from Australia?
Thanks
sarrx

Have you considered getting the channels via IPTV? You may find you can stream the channels for free over the ‘net, instead of spending time and resources trying to get them via satellite.
To my knowledge there are no Polish TV broadcasts via satellite available in Australia.
+1 for the iptv solution.
A quick search indicates several online options, but nothing I could find via satellite.
My first guess would be that any Polish channels broadcasting FTA internationally would probably be doing so via C-band on an Intelsat or something -- so the Foxtel dish would be out of the question anyway.
