The Elder Scrolls IV… install help..

I brought a Compaq desktop pc many years ago… part of the package was Morrowind The Elder Scrolls IV… at the time the bride and I played this for a couple of weeks and enjoyed it…

Now years later we thought we would have a go tonight but on our current pc… 4 pc on from the Compaq but when I try to install I get an error that reads….

Component : Music.
File Group : Music
File : D\data2.cab
Error : error..

We know SFA about gamming but would like to play this the next couple of nights… does the above error mean the disk can only be played on the Compaq it was sold with…

maybe the disc is scratched?
if you run down to eb games you can probably find it there for 10 bucks
its elder scrolls 3 btw
elder scrolls 4 is Oblivion
if you have the original disc you can install it on any pc

I've tried an installation of TeSIV:Obliv on my computer 3 times so far, and one on a prior installation of Windows XP Pro SP2. I have the most recent nVidia Forceware Driver Updates, as well as those for every and all other components in my computer.

Problem is, when my rig was running a GeForce 7300GS 512MB with Turbocache, it ran like crap, BUT, I could still see everything fine. Now, I'm running the same hardware setup, BUT, with a GeForce 9600GT OC 512MB with Turbocache in it's place. The card on every game looks amazing, Vegas, Vegas 2, GRAW/GRAW2, CoD4, Lord of the Rings Online, HL2:Ep2, Portal, TF2... you get my point. BUT, when it comes down to it... sadly, TeSIV:Obliv looks like poop. Its almost as if I'm running it on low. I know my computer can do the game on 1680x1050 (my native desktop/monitor rez), but it just won't show.

More or less what I mean, is that the Distant Lands or Distant anything won't show, at all. Everything is grey and foggy, and whats worse, the clouds in the sky make it look as if it were a continuous storm. I've tried everything... changing settings, adding mods, removing them, removing Codec Packs, Reverting Display Drivers, Lowering Graphics, ugh! I just really want to play this game, in all its glory. The indoor environements are fine, character models are fine, everything around me save for an arm's length in distance is just good, but everything else, its like I'm in that Foggy crap from The Silent Hill movie, its retarded. Please. I'll link a picture of what it looks like.

*note, I didn't know if I should do it in this, or start my own thread (I'm not very good with forums, as this was my last resort) so I'll do both.
