I believe Australia has far more fertile land and resources to offer than Greenland and many other countries carrying a much higher density.
The birth rate figure is 1.79-1.81(an estimate) for the lifetime of a female in Australia, not % babies per year.
To sustain a population figure we would need 2.0, so from that side of the story we have a negative birth rate.
According to
our growth rate estimate is 1.01 in the period 2005-2011 which is roughly 1% as I said.
That would mean that we need slightly less than 70 years to double.
However it is expected that the above mentioned fertility birth rate will significantly decrease like it is happening right now in other developed counties, to stay with Germany only 1.3 babies per female.
My experience has shown me that in many things we are simply 10 years behind...they had also been using CFLs 10 years before they became popular here
No, seriously I do believe the predictions from ppl who have looked into these things that our birth rate will continue to drop.
I just have to listen to the teenagers of today. Most of them don't really want kids.
To my knowledge that 300,000 immigrant plan is a first timer for 2008/9. I doubt that will continue for ever.
You guys are all victims of media scares again. We not become another Bangladesh.
We have a lot more to worry about than our growth rate, if worrying is our ambition.
Interesting to look at the list here:
how high the fertility birth rate is in the Islam oriented countries, even compared to the classic overpopulated countries... does look a bit scary.
Well I suppose they don't use as much power as us... too busy making babies.
