Not following - Ford Aust designed the current Ranger but was never built here (Thailand, South Africa and now the US) - the Ford Asia Pacific Product Development team primarily at Broadmeadows and Geelong in Victoria continues to exist and now contributes to world Ford design and continues with the design of Ranger updates.

    America just wants it back.
    It's a global vehicle
Shame our Aussie boys did all the leg work.

Do you have a link on that closure?

I just googled "Ford Asia Pacific Product Development team closure" and nothing comes up.

In fact as of late 2018

"Ford has retained part of the site for workshops supporting the Asia Pacific Product Development Centre engineering effort responsible for a number of Ford vehicles, including the global Ford Ranger and Everest.

At Campbellfield, on Melbourne’s northern fringe, the company has retained a bigger slice of its former Broadmeadows factory site that was bought by Ford in 1956 in readiness to produce the first Australian Ford Falcon in 1960.

Ford Australia has retained its former head office, now remodelled to house about 300 engineers and support staff for the vehicle development program.

As well, it has kept the recently refurbished design centre and other facilities associated with the engineering program that employs about 1500 people in all.

Just up the road, Ford’s biggest parts warehouse will also remain a fixture in Campbellfield."

So the decision to move this division to the US must have only been made in the last few weeks and not publically announced. Seems odd after they invested $450m only 18 months ago to boost Ford Asia Pacific Product Development team.

Are you getting confused with the Ford US announcement to build the Ranger in Detroit and use the chassis for the new Bronco/

Nah! He's just got it tethered with a piece of string to his clothes line and a brick on the pedal!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

yeah , but the Rangers were never an Aussie thing to begin with , they were a cheap Mazda copy being sold in the USA since the early 90s.

Yeah, pre PX was USA developed
The Aussies did all the leg work for the success of the current Ranger platform.
Now the USA wants to take it back....

    As for hoe's falcon.
I showed the Ford Future Development Team and they were all impressed.
