You have to be kidding!
I know it has been happening for years
Bread rolls made in China and Cooked in store etc etc
But from the UK, are you kidding me
It is literally the other side the world
Aren't Coles the Fresh Food people?

At least they're not covering it up (not exactly loudly announcing it either)
Makes you want to consider home DIY options

Thanks, we don't have any of the major supermarkets here.
But our local Foodworks is owned by a Chinese fella

Another thought springs to mind. Where did that picture originate from? Was it an internet meme or did you take that piccie yourself OB?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
Sorry to sound a bit unpatriotic but Australians in general know very little about proper baking and some other things I better not get into.
This fluffy soggy stuff we call bread and buns is awful when you have spent some time in Europe. Sometimes I just eat crackers and biscuits
Although I am not convinced that the British are any better.
There is only one type of bread in Coles that I find kind of acceptable and that is a rye sourdough with a reasonable crust and a bit of flavour . Maybe the dough also comes from elsewhere, I don't have the original packing here.
I have had to resort to backing my own sourdough breads but I never got the texture right so I gave up and just suffer.
Maybe Adelaide or other metros might have a fair share of good German, Dutch, Polish, etc descendant bakers but in my end of the woods it just sucks. All industrial shyte.
Even non supermarket bakers are just a more expensive disappointment.

Do we Australians really produce anything?
Peanut butter from India.
Most canned fish from Thailand.
Beetroot from New Zealand.
Butter from New Zealand.
Have a good look at the stuff in your pantry and ....
If Australia is a democracy why, then, is voting compulsory?
"What has changed between the arrival of the First Fleet and today?"
"Wearing leg irons is now not required."

Buy cheap and pay often, - there is no substitute for stupidity.
You wipe your bum after each crap, why don't you clean your teeth after every meal?
There is no shame in being uneducated nor in being stupid.
The true shame lies in knowing that you are and doing nothing about it.

Read a long time ago so not sure if its true that coles/woolies crumpets are made from made up batch's of dough made in Ireland that can be a year old before being baked
Been making my own bread (cheating, using a panasonic breadmaker) for many years as the shite you buy from supermarkets is just that....................SHITE !!!!!!, with the least amount of 'goodness' possible @ the highest price they can get away with
I know there are a very few brands of bread that may be OK....ish but when I recall what most mothers feed their kids, you know the ones.....tiptop anyone ??? makes me want to vomit

There are doughs that were brought over in the Mayflower to the Americas that are still being used today in California and New York.
Same goes for Australian professional bakers who make Sourdough bread in traditional wood ovens.
For those of you who are feeling adventurous I can highly recommend this place (). It's been many years since I visited but I try to get a loaf of Olive Sourdough every Christmas, it lasts more than one week and still tastes perfect every day.
