Welcome to Austech GeorgeS, enjoy your stay.
Hi all.
What a great resource you have created here
I've had CB radio since the 80's. Worked building and repairing telemetry through the 90's while studying electronics.
Then onto computer programming, then CAD.
Have built several cars. Current project is a '76 Corolla Coupe, 4AGE, Supra box, R31 diff, 4 spot calipers….
Recently have been looking at getting my Amateur license. Thinking of going straight for the Advanced in a couple of months.
Meanwhile, have been acquiring some radios. Still have an old Lankar SSB 27Mhz clunker and Realistic 200 ch scanner and picked up a couple of VHF radios recently.
Thanks largely to the info on here I have already tracked down software to program a GM338. The great trick being using an old driver for the cheap ebay programming cable. If I can find again the post where I found out that info I will give rep.
Thanks to whoever that was in case I can't find the post and thanks to everyone else who has already helped.
Next step, learn DMR

Welcome GeorgeS, You've certainly come to the right place. We'll help all we can, and look forward to seeing you help where you can, too.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
G'day George!
Keep me posted on how you go with the GM338.
I'm trying to also program one and I'm having a few troubles. If you have issue look at my post in the Communication Forum.
It seems i've run into just about every problem you can.
Welcome to Austech, George.
As you may have figured out, there's several licensed amateurs among the members here.
Where are you from?
