Default Future of web design and even development

Hey guys I have a question what do you guys think the future for web developers and designers is looking like at the moment. Il tell you why I ask.

Little site builders like wix and weebly and even wordpress now allow the average person to create a site with some decent functionality. Now I myself am designer programmer and seo guy and i know there are a ton of shor comings to these sites in certain aspects. If you are a small business and just want something online to refrence people to or even sell , shopify you could probably do al;right.,

What ive noticed is while the program "does the coding for you" its not the best coding if you are looking to grow scalability. And in the ling run i think these sites cost businesses more.
from the design perspective man ive seen some bad stuff and image searches and content searches show so much duplicates around the web.

This means to me your ui may not be good at converting and google probably dislikes you a little and as a brand you may have trouble seperating yourself.

Despite all this I know there are some cool things that im not listing here pros to using wix again for smaller businesses with some creatives.

I am seeing a drop in requests for websites but the clients that I do get are more upper end type work do you think that wix will kill the industry? or that its going to raise the bar for us ?

I just dont a\gree with a one click solution when we have billions of businesses struggling to stand out and when the web experience is becoming increasingly about personlisation.

Interesting thoughts. Not sure, only time will tell. We were all told that by now we would all have a paperless office, you know how well that went. LOL. I do suspect that a web dev's role will change, probably more specialised. Time was when typists were a good commodity. Now, they are still there, but far fewer of them and far more specialised.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Make a good point about the paper office you can also throw flying cars in with that one. I guess if things change we will do what we have always done adapt or die

I have a bit of web programming background myself, learned many years ago back in uni time, not as professional work though. I can build website but tbh if you or a small business client asks me, I'd recommend them to build one out of Shopify or Wix, unless they are medium size business who need a custom site built from scratch, which takes a team of developers to build. Otherwise personally I think those out-of-the-box Wix/Shopify will do most what a small business needs to do. Luckily I don't build website as a career.

Yeah well this is sort of what I was alluding to. Much of the work, knowledge has been taken off our shoulders by wix, weebly, shopify and even wordpress. I think however even though wix and the like have taken great strides to get themselves on par with the conventional website the customisation's not their. Small business owners are not design experts, they also dont have the time to become one. I think however what we are going to see is a generation of self built websites. Millions of users using platforms that create similar websites with no depth in terms of design, offerings and functionality. This in a time when the web and marketing is all about personlization. People are going to look for a way to set themselves apart. Thats where design experts are going to come in both web and graphic. There is no doubt going to be a purge on the bottom end of these professions until such time that people realise. This are just my thoughts and hopes I guess maybe it wont materialise.
