    Default Challenger V8 Firmware Upgrade

I have a Challenger V8 panel running firmware v8.98 and want to upgrade it to v8.140 so I can run security commander.

I have found the instructions on how to do it but it does not specify a couple of things.

    1. Can upgrading firmware cause compatibility issues with existing boards? (TS0867 v8.01, TS0862 v1.5, V8-DGP-8 v1.02)?
    2. Can the firmware chip be hot swapped? or do I have to disconnect power?

    Thanks.

No issues at all with hardware compatibility.

You will need to power the panel down first.
Make sure that you have a backup of the programming. after swapping out the EEprom cap the panel and then dump the programming back into the panel.

Why the hell do you want to go to Security Commander?
Do you have an TS0898 or TS0099 IP card on the panel?

    Thanks for the help.

Problems I am having with Titan TS9002-R01.08.04 are.
    1. Its Paradox database. I have been unable to access the database via odbc drivers (I want to send certain alarms to my works slack channel automatically). Having the MS SQL database in security commander would make this simple.
    2. The user report in Titan is terrible as the filtering options are limited and the format is not exportable to Excel.

I do not have TS0898 or TS0099 IP card on the panel.

Security commander would solve these problems but I am open to other solutions.

You are kind of limited in what you are doing because of what hardware you have.

I don't know if Hills sell V8 Eproms as the panel has not been sold for 4 or 5 years.
The version of Titan you have is very old. The current version is now 3.05.01 b26.

You can stream the event log via the printer port and scan the ascii string for what you are looking for.

There is TecomC4 that will talk to the V8. But that will require a licensed Tech.

Best solution. Upgrade to a Challenger10 panel and you can have all you want including automation and the TecomApp.

    Worth the investment.
