Why do you want a dialler if you have comnav?
Comnav can do Push Notifications etc May need firmware update or newer model depending on age of current comnav

Could power from 12v from alarm. Will not do sms.
Hi folks
Looking for some advice for existing Hills Home Hub with R8 alarm panel, Comnav etc...
With the progression of mobile phones and unlimited call plans, we have little need for our phone line (NBN Uni-V). Have been using the phone line for the occasional fax and alarm self monitoring but the Uni-V restricts our choice of NBN retailers. Don’t want to spend more money again for ATA in addition to ongoing phone service costs for something we rarely use.
Looking at installing a 3G/4G Dialer for alarm self-monitoring only. Is this the best solution for me?
What about SMS broadcasting services? Are they a viable alternative to send an immediate sms in the event of an alarm trigger?
If the dialer is the go, ideally I would be looking for something that ticks these boxes:
Compact enough to fit in HHH (very limited space available)
Powered from alarm panel (no room for another power adaptor)
Can send sms for alarm trigger
Suitable for self monitoring
Thanks in advance...

ComMav is around 3 years old.
Maybe my terminology is off. Is there a solution to send sms (or a push notification etc)?
The ComNav manual says that an sms server is needed to send sms. I vaguely recall the ComNav retailer talking about an additional bit of kit that could be added to do this...?
I thought it was a sim dialer or perhaps a mobile dongle...!?
Possibly needs firmware update. Easier to buy a new comnav then get it updated, based on my past experience.
But yes can do push notifications and app control (Arm and Disarm etc). App is called UltraConnect.

Currently using Ultraconnect app for remote arm/disarm etc. I will look into the push notifications - perhaps a firmware and app update since initial install... Presumbly this just needs internet connection, not phone line?
Correct, just internet connection.
Progress... found another thread on here re push notis. Got them working pretty easy - just a matter of copying the destination name from the app into one of the 3x email reporting addresses.
If internet connection is required - I presume this is at the mobile device end too? I often disable my mobile data when overseas to avoid the massive data roaming charges. May need to rethink this if internet required.
If there was a solution to deliver sms, this would need mobile data turned on overseas if outside of hotel wifi for example?
Yes will need mobile data for alerts.
This model may work in doing dialling and sms. I have not used it. I don't think it does zone detail sms only general sms setup in 3G unit.
Probably a few $$$ and you would need to supply a sim card.
I can see the links in the post.
Yes the links are live. Guess its your "end"
Aspire to Inspire Before you Expire!!
Can do individual zones, if you have enough outputs, it does not capture anything from the panel, just needs an output triggered on the panel to initiate the SMS function, pretty basic and seeing the wholesale price unsure if many of these would get sold (in my opinion)
Another option
Thanks for the feedback and advice guys...
Now that I have the push notifications, I may not need the sms reporting...
As long as I can get these when overseas I am happy. The phone reporting is not as ‘smart’ as the notifications so I think the notifications are an improvement already.
I trialled the push notifications on the weekend to confirm alarm reporting.
Unfortunately when I triggered the alarm, no push notifications were sent... I do have all reporting checkboxes checked too.
Any ideas? Has anyone had alarm events reported by push notifications?
Try Hills support, that is what I do when I have more issues than success with these devices, you will then see why installers don't push these free services, Hills will blame everything except there service and to be honest Hills is probably correct, first step would be to contact the person who sold it to you, then Hills Support, but if you are in WA, Hills wont help (just my experience with the people I know who have tried and ditched the Hills Self Reporting)
Cheers Adam, alas I am in Perth...
Will give the shop who supplied my ComNav a call.
