If you access the panel programming using the lid off method all current programming will remain
Got a Ness5000 that I need to change the dialler settings on.
The dialler has had a code put on it and the code is not known. Im not talking about the panel installer code either.
Can anyone tell me if I default the panel via the standard method will the Dialler code default as well?

I would change it to a new panel mate
that thing is a dinosaur lol..
Client does not want a new panel as this one has been reliable. lol
Tastech, there is a seperate code that can be enabled to limit access to just the dialler programming.
I have had no probs getting into panel programming via the method you describe but once in there it wont let me alter dialler options.
Lol
I dont particulary like them but they cant be too bad as there are still plenty of them working today 20 odd years after being turned on.
So know one knows the answer to my question eh.
I don;t know if there is a back door way into the dialler if a seperate installer code was set. Maybe ness will reset it still? but i doubt it.
I have an old manual some where, let me look for it mate.
What do you specifically want to change.
Are you a tech or an end user.
The answer to your questions are on page 6 & 7 of the dialler manual.
If you don't know the lock code then you can default just the dialler and reprogram it again. Not a great deal of addresses to reprogram.
Have you rung ness for tech support.
I need to change Primary/secondary reciever numbers as well as account number. Oh and the timer test interval.
Left 2 messages on Ness tech support answering service mid last week but they must be busy as I havn't got a return call as yet.
Bss904 you must have a different dialler manual to me as the answer to my questions is not in there on mine. But thanks anyway.
Thanks Keef. I have the install & dialler manuals too but have not found the answer to my question.
I dont want to default it and find that all settings wiped ok but still cant get in to reprogram the dialler like a C&K236i.
You will have to default the dialler, instructions are in the dialler programming manual. There is probably no one at Ness who would no how to program a 5000 now lol.
Thanks for that FordTech
Hi there
If you have the correct manuals it will tell you how to default the dialler. You wont be able to get into the dialler programming if a code has been entered so when you default it you will lose all the other info as well. Alarm and restore codes, test times, tamper alarms, and a few others. Peter Burns at ness is very helpful. It's very easy to reprogram them but may seem difficult if you havent done it before. There are still hundreds of Ness 5000 panels out there and have survived very well. There are no replacement parts anymore. When the keypad membranes go you wont be able to replace them either, but saying that they are still a pretty good basic panel. I would go down the upgrade option myself but if the client doesnt want that then I suppose you will get extra work eventually when it does fail.
If you dont get any further with suitable help then contact me via my pm and I'll give you more details

Only if they havent had the lightning arrestor modification done to them, and of course, making sure that the arrestor has been suitably earthed always helps (Had a turkey many years ago put the lightning kit because the poor old securitel board kept on being fried, didnt bother to earth it, then it blew up again... hrmmm the funny thing, is that it had a small lead that came off the board from the gas arrestor, he/she/it cut the cable off flush with the pcb...
Ness 5000's are not bad, they where just built that way ... a la Jessica Rabbit...

Heya ATech, if your having troubles with the beast I have all the old 5000's manuals (Even got some of the original blue booklets) plus all the programming guides for the early ness stuff that you may come accross... If you would like them PM Me and I'll shoot you over the manuals in pdf.

Thanks for the info guys.
I got the manuals but thanks for the offer Redozqld.
I saw the page on defaulting but wanted to be clear that the dialer code would infact default with other info. I have been cought with this on a C&K236i before.
Ive never completely programmed one of these as they are a bit before my time but have made various changes to them. They are straight forward enough to program so I should be right.
Will do it next week.
