It's in the heart of the city. I'm pretty sure water bombing is only for open space fires. Looks like its pretty much gutted.

Hell of a loss. Its such a massive building and a real centre piece of Paris. I've been in it many years ago but last time I was there the lines to get in were enormous so I just wandered around the streets that surround it.

-- In what might be the best news possible, under the circumstances ... the Paris police chief just said Notre Dame's structure has been saved, and the fire stopped from spreading to the northern belfry. In fact, they say both towers are going to be safe.

What a loss really terrible event. Read they could not water bomb the building for fear of causing it to collapse being mostly timber.

I wonder how much damage to the "history" that it contained occurred. A sad day for the world.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Several accounts on over the loss of the 850 plus year-old cathedral, which has become an icon of the city of Paris since the Medieval era.

Twitter user @SarahSahim, a writer for Rolling Stone magazine, Teen Vogue and the Independent newspaper wrote, “Notre-Dame burning is cosmic karma for all the historical sites and artefacts France destroyed and stole when being colonialist scum.”
When social media became a worldwide phenomena with the hope of bringing ppl together 15~20 years ago, I wonder if any foresaw the festering cancer it has become

I wonder if they had any muslim workers doing the restoration work ??

It's funny, i seem to do this often, i woke at 4am and thought, something has happened (I've had the same feeling when Aircraft have crashed etc), so turned the TV and went straight to international news.. WOW, it was sure on fire at 4am our time.

My first thought were some kind of Muslim payback, but nothing like that was being mentioned in the broadcast
Although there was real quality BS being mentioned by reporters....

I'm actually not sure where i stand on buildings like this, part of me wants to see them all removed (which will never happen)
The other part appreciates the history and artworks in them

Either way, it is going to cost a fortune to rebuild!

I spoke to several Random customers/ people today where this fire was brought up. Every person I spoke to said they wondered if it was some form of Muslum/ terrorist attack?
Thought the same thing myself but others brought it up before I mentioned it which said something in itself.

Although there was real quality BS being mentioned by reporters....
Everyone I spoke to also was of the opinion that if it were some Islamic handiwork it would be covered up and denied because the protected peace lovers can't do anything wrong these days.

Something else that I also thought which really goes to show the message everyone has been sent.
I found this very interesting because the people I spoke to were not friends who could be like minded, but just random people I had never met before who walked into the Business.

Seems the general community are not as brainwashed and gullible as the Gubbermint and the Muslums would like.

When i say reporter BS, i meant the fact they all of sudden all turned into structural engineers when passing comment, as the place was a blaze.
Some of the claims were truly remarkable, considering no one had access and they were still fighting the fire from appliances out in the street

With those images in mind, you can imagine my reaction when i turned the tv on at 4am, or anyone for that matter.
Very much the same feeling as when i turned the tv onto to 9/11, especially given the all the protests on Paris recently

Despite being a non believer these old Churches always fascinated me. When I lived in Europe every time I came to a new city I would always try to visit them when they were empty.
The Cologne Dom was my favourite but unfortunately I never got around to see the Notre Dame.
It will be re-built without a doubt but the worker who might have accidentally started the blaze with an acetylene torch or dodgy electrical wiring is surely not finding any sleep.
That 100's of years old wood must be dry like tinder.

To the contrary, doesn’t this show sections of the the Government have brainwashed some in the community into blaming Muslims for everything, even disasters that are nothing more that a terrible accident?

The next time a Priest says "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" in that church will be a moment for reflection.
