    Default Art imitating life??

The Strategic culture Foundation is a site I visit regularly.

They produce top-notch articles on the whole spectrum of international affairs written by an impressive stable of contributors.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen an article about Australia on the site, but a recent one made me think that maybe they were more familiar with our politics than might be evident:

What If Mainstream Media’s Message About Putin Was Delivered in Orwell’s Language?

In a world increasingly resembling George Orwell’s “1984,” Patrick Armstrong comes up with a modest proposal to protect democracy against Putin. “Love the Ruling Party: we all win and Putin loses!”

Whilst the thrust of the satirical article had some relevance to the machinations of our politicians and mainstream media, it was the accompanying artwork at the top of the article that convinced me that somebody at the Foundation had more than a passing knowledge of things down-under.

See if you can spot what I mean

Interesting, although not surprising....I would have infinitely preferred Tony Abbot to Turnbull.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Sorry...couldn't read your response till I found my glasses

Well, I honestly thought it was just a massive coincidence.....but I've since done some research (yeah, I know....get a life, etc.) and found this.

    Apparently not such a coincidence.

US Historians Accidentally Used Tony Abbott To Illustrate '1984' And It's Incredible

Earlier this week, historians at the US Smithsonian Institution posted a story about a new Broadway adaption of George Orwell's book 1984, which is apparently making people "faint and vomit"..............It turns out the Smithsonian's illustration is from a piece of Melbourne street art featuring the mug of Tony Abbott.

Commonly referred to, I think, as a Freudian slip
