One of these just turned up in my doorstep...

Just took a photo of the moon, hand held with most of a bottle of royal Swan rum in me...

I guess that's why the thread title says Huawei p20 but it's about a Huawei p30

Impressive pic from a phone camera though.

i blame the auto correct, as i had earlier put the p20 on ebay and had typed the info in numerous times.....

yes, very impressive for a phone camera - 10 x optical and 50 x digital zoom...

The p30 Pro has 5x optical zoom on an 8MP sensor.
It is really a shame they didn't marry the 5x lens to the 40MP sensor, then we would have had a winner!

Cropping a 40MP image to 8MP gives you the same resolution as with 5x zoom so the optical zoom theoretically makes no sense but optical errors in the 1x lens would probably be more obvious in the cropped version.
40MP on 1x seems wasted to me. I doubt any of these tiny phone lenses are optically capable of this resolution but the 5x optical would have certainly made the most of it.

Impressive in your photo is not the resolution but that you managed no obvious motion blur with an amount of alcohol that would have put me in a coma.

This era of thoughtless consumption must end so we can encourage a world of creative geniuses rather than consumer idiots.

I was just thinking of your old bike the other day, didn't you have a Laverda Jota as well?
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Im pretty impressed so far, everything is better.
Its not a next gen type jump, just an incremental improvement over the p20.

biggest improvements are the fast charging is even faster and the addition if wireless charging and reverse charging.
reverse charging is pretty inefficient and only really suitable for charging ancillaries like ear buds etc.
if you want to charge another phone etc. use the cable charging feature.
wireless charging is very slow compared to the fast charge, but useful as many new cars have it built in now and having a phone plugged in while bouncing around on crap wa roads can lead to damage.

the other big improvement is the camera, particularly night mode and the 5 x optical and 10x hybrid zoom, im looking forward to taking photos at the next concert i go to.

I wouldnt rush out to replace a p20 or mate20 but a 10 series, yes.

i replaced my p20 as i smashed the screen and the company paid for a new p30..

    p20 is on ebay....

    Night mode Anzac day....
