Modem arrived today.
Will plug it in soon and see what happens
varies from $3-$10 month
this mob look cheap as long as 10gb space is enough
more space cost more $, us servers offer more space but lack speed
& $11 yr for a name.

Check out mail.com(international version of gmx.com), they have been around much longer than that gmail spy rubbish
You can't directly personalise the domain but there are plenty of really cool ones to choose from when you sign up and all free and always anonymous.
I would have likely more than 50 of them, that I use to sign up to free services and 'deals' and forums without revealing my main email addresses, thus avoiding being hammered with spam.
The spam is actually quite useful as it keeps the email services active, some would be close to 20 years old.
That said my Exemail still receives after 15 years since I cancelled them. Has turned out handy with some people who I lost contact with.
My old Bigpond still receives too.
Yes Thunderbird rules to manage them all

Exetel and iiNet are good choices. I've had iiNet for 3-4 years, Extele for 4-5 years previously and has been good

Have been conned to Telstra for less than a week and already made about ten calls to them to fix various problems.
Spent two and a half hours on the phone last night trying to sort out why We can't receive mobile phone calls. Still not working. They haven't a clue how to fix it.
Three days ago we couldn't receive calls from any phone type.
Already growing tired of this crap.
Sorry for previous post I meant to say "connected to Telstra" not conned ..... yet it's ironic it fits.
Does anyone have the Telstra smart modem gen 2 ?
Just want to know what's supposed to happen when you press the back reset button ? Do any lights flash or change colour as it initializes ?
Mine does nothing so I'm wondering if they sent me a faulty modem.
I do not have that Telstra modem, but up to now every modem I have resetted made the lights change.
Maybe that modem is too smart to let you know
I suggest press and hold 10 seconds or have you tried plugging the power out and then back in again
Can you get in with a browser and that magic number 10.10.10.x or 192.168.1.1 admin admin ?

Problems :
Home phone won't receive calls from a mobile phone.
Very slow page loading on computer connected by cable.
Google home can't connect to osram lightify to control a light.
Modem reset button doesn't change or flash modem lights as would happen during initialization.
I contacted telstra on their live chat to sort out an email problem and found out their previous checks determined the modem is faulty and they're sending a new one.

So tonight I online chatted to telstra about why my email address was suddenly inactive.
They said my entire account with them was marked for cancellation. SAY WHAT ?????
Gotta be joking. Some idiot at telstra has done this. Talk about incompetence. I had to continue the chat for 2 hours to get that sorted, but they say fixed in 24 hours. I doubt it. Sick to death of these pricks already.

The wife and I both looked at reviews before changing provider and we could see so many of them have gone downhill.
The worst part is I am the one who chose to go with telstra, she wanted to go Aussie broadband.
If this telstra bullshot isn't sorted properly and running smoothly for ever after it's going to cause a lot of friction between us.

suggestion ky jelly sorts this out lol
...and Telstra is responding with their T22 strategy, which translates to about 6000 workers to be laid off by the end of the year and more to follow.
Shareholders love this, SP has performed quite well this year but don't expect a five star service from them with all these cuts.

They reckon the modem they sent is faulty so they sent another one.
Current situation :
Internet works ok.
Email for one address working ok.
Phone working but can't receive calls from mobiles. It's been like that since connecting 2 weeks ago. They don't know how to fix it.
