Default In car Satnav GPS Hyundai/Opal

    Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted here, but wanted to ask if anyone was aware of how to update my in-car satnav?
I have a Hyundai ix35 with an 'aftermarket' Opal system.

Not too sure why they provided an aftermarket and not a genuine Hyundai product 4 years ago when I purchased the car, but that's another story.

Anyway I enquired with Hyundai about updating to the latest maps and they said they could not because it's an aftermarket product.
But they did manage to get someone who can assist, to call me.
I was astounded to hear from him that they can happily update the maps on my system for $395.00. Had to ask him to repeat the price just to be sure.
I told him for that price I could buy a new top of the range satnav and have change left over.
I advised him I would not be proceeding with them. That was a ridiculous price.

    Which brings me here.
I am hoping someone can assist with finding the updated maps and how to install into my car.

    Any assistance would be helpful.

It's a 2015 ix35 which seems to have been installed with a system from aus-audio, whch included a CD with a CD key and POLNAV on it.
But this information would be outdated I'm sure.

    Thanks,
    BV

    Hi again,
I enquired with a supplier of these units in NSW who responded to my email and advised that I could get the latest maps (they use IGO for OPAL) for $240.
That's almost half the price I was quoted by the other guy last week.
    WOW!

TOM TOM GO for $270 from JB HiFi also an option.
    Lifetime free maps.

Anyway, still looking for a cheaper alternative if anyone can help.
    Thanks.

If it is IGO software then you should be able to update with the latest maps, but accessing the system is another matter.
Is update done via disc or cable ?

Is it the same as this -
If so can you remove the SD card and see if the map is loaded on it.

I am pretty certain it's done by micro SD and yes, it's very similar to that.
Design looks the same, only the OSD varies a little.
I noticed that version is for year series up to 2012. Mine is 2015, say maybe software has been updated.

The map would be on the SD card, because the supplier in NSW advised they would send me a new SD card with the map, a new restore CD and a new user manual.

    Thanks.

You should be able to just put a new map onto the CD card, do you know OS does the head unit uses ?
I see it uses IGO primo, if you can show me the contents of the SD card i can see what map file it uses.

What am I looking for on the micro SD card? There are heaps of files on there.

How can I show you what's on there?
I can't attach an image unless it's available as a URL.
Not sure how to do this. So I am listing the files/folders in there.

I can tell you there are 18 folders and 7 files in the root of the sd card.
    Folders include:

    Bin
    Command
    Config
    Default
    dll
    Doc
    Font
    Image
    InputMethod
    ISTTS
    Itenerary
    Lang
    Map
    NMEA
    Photo
    Sound
    Trail
    User

    Files include:
    AusAudio-RR.pkg
    hwr.log
    Navione.exe
    package.lst
    pinfo.txt
    production.txt
    write_test.txt

In the Map folder there are 4 more folders and a key file.
    Folders in there are...
    AuNz
    Basemap
    JunctionView
    SpeedCamera

Where do I need to go and what can I do?

    Thanks.

Sorry been away, i wanted to see what OS the head unit used and from the Navione.exe file i expect it to be WinCE based. I would source a winCE based nav program like a newer Igo or TomTom and load it onto a spare SD card, sign up on the Fixmygps site where someone no doubt has done a similar upgrade.

    Hi,

Sorry for a grave bump, but I also have a similar navione (polnav opal) headunit that im looking to update, did you have much success?

I have attempted to update using the tomato update tool from polstar website but get an error re. the model ausaudio-rr

    Error Protocal: (model_rule len = 2)
    Model=AusAudio-RR
    Please contact support team

    Log file
    [ 2020/01/03 2214 _ 系統訊息 ] : getModelRule(): model=AusAudio-RR, result=|0

Also tried the ausaudio/naviextras website but the toolbox update software didn't pickup the sd card.

Found the opal cd, it has instructions on how to update:
    1. get ID and Model number from the head unit (under Info > About)
    2. email frank.tseng@polstargps.com with the above details to get the update,
Include "Upgrade for Aus-audio warehouse opal gps navigation systems" in the header or body
    3. pay the fee get the update, further details will be supplied in the email
