Jewelry stores were also a focus a few years back. The 50% off sale that lasts for 365 days.
They would put prices up on select items for a month and then back to 50% off for the rest of the year.

My personal favourite was Woolies who had a SPECIAL price on an item. When I lifted it up to see what the original price was, it was 25% cheaper.
Another item had a SPECIAL which had the same price.

Now I don't think they do this deliberately, rather like all big companies, the is a few idiots somewhere in middle management who just don't know what the #### is going on in the real world.
