    Default D8x sensitivity

    Hello

I have a D8x alarm system with 3 sensors. I walk in front of the sensors and they initiate on the keypad, so everything is working.

Problem is, when it’s armed, I have to really wave around for the alarm to go off. The sensitivity is too low, you can walk past the detector and it will not annunciate.

Is there a setting to increase the sensitivity of the system, so that it triggers ? I checked the manual but could not find such a setting.

It depends on the detector whether they are adjustable or not.
What are they and how old?

Sensitivity of the sensors is typically a trim pot or slide switch inside the sensor.

Possibly silly question but are they wired or wireless?

Wireless sensors will often time-out after a trigger to conserve battery.

Thanks for the replies. They are wired detectors and are about 2 years old.

They are QUANTUM-Q QUAD ELEMENT PIR. Is there a pot inside? If so I’ll get the ladder out and have a look

They have adjustable range H/L and pulse count, both set by jumper links.

I would suggest some better sensors. Eg Bosch brand or Optex RX40. Depending if you need pet friendly or standard sensors. I don't rate the ness sensors very well, being for the reasons you mentioned.
