Default What to look for in a new TV - LG 65" UHD tv 100hz?

Hi yawl, thinking about a new TV. Was in JB and had one of these 65" LG's for $995. Any reason to spend more? What features might I be missing out on?

Its IPS and if you watched UHD HDR its useless. You get what you pay for. Forget features and look for Issues with the TV because all TV today suffer from issues and even a blind old man like me can see them. Even a Quality Tv like the NEW SONY Z9G at 85 inch has blooming issues and you pay AUS $26,000 for it. What do you want this tv for?

Just keep an eye on OzBargin Leroy

Plenty of Samung's, Sony and LG's coming through at cheap prices
I find the folks in the comments seem to be well up to date with any issues

I always say to people "what do you want to do with this TV" because some are fussy like me and you need to know what are you going to watch like, normal FTA SD viewing, or bly-ray 1080p, UHD blu rays with HDR, or even a Bright room or dark room viewing and when you going to use this TV but I expect he wants a general viewing tv as most that want to buy a TV for UHD HDR stuff wont be looking to buy at tv around $999

Wot 'e sed. How much time do you spend in front of the dumb box? What are you hoping to see on it? If, like most, of us you only have it on the provide some light entertainment then (almost) any old box will do. If, OTOH, you are looking for fly specs on Fedora's arse then perhaps you need something a little more hi-def.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Hi jacking the thread, was going to post re the prices of tv's after reading a Hardly Normal brochure
The prices they are asking for some tv's are mind blowing. Mr672a refers to a $26,000 tv, but there were pages of tv's $4,000-6,000
JB's used to have good value tv's before they went looking for the Lucre and going up market, since then prices for tv's have sky rocketed
The question is do you need all those features or a plain vanilla tv
Even Cosco tv's prices are dictated by the manufacturers and they do not discount like they do in the States, why would you pay $50

Some one is making a hell of a lot of money from some thing that is mass produced and possibly made in China!!!

I want it for watching TV

ok I was at another store today and they had a Hitachi 65"for $995 as well but when I got the guy to connect the FTA TV...wow. When you saw the guys running around the field they kind of blurred. As it turned out it is a 50hz tv. I also looked at the 55" Sony 100 and 200hz sets. The difference is very slight but the 200 is better. $600 better? dunno. So I will try get some sport on this LG I originally looked at to compare.

You really need to decide what you really want....

I watch a lot of iptv hd sport and 4k hdr movies so I needed to spend a lot to get what I wanted......

I went for LG oled with latest processor and being oled, no backlight....

Also I wanted atmos and Dolby vision/hdr.

Nobody pays anything near lgs rrp....

If you can get local dimming and hdr in your budget, do it...

Don't worry about atmos etc, that can be done with a decent sound bar or amp later on....

Excellent, I was watching the tennis final in 4k the other day via iptv....

The iptv app runs on the TV, not using a separate box. That's one of the reasons I needed a fast processor and lots of memory in my TV.

    Leroy,

    Im with you Leroy
I'd like a OLED 4K that runs Android
Sony or LG, i could care less

So long as you can "sideload" apps and make the TV the unit you want/need, then who cares

It may be the case a third party box is needed to allow processor speed and RAM
But the ability to do all you need with the TV alone would be great!
