I got done for a Radar Detector in NSW, 10 points
Not one carried to my Vic license
Also, when is your last speeding fine?
If it's been ages there is a program to have your low speeding fine abolished if you've been a good boy for years.
Just asking for those that might know. I believe we have one or two Vic officers here. Got a fine for "alleged speed" of 105 in 100 on western ring road, Deer Park. Piss weak really. Anyway, $201 plus one demerit. Do I wear the Victorian demerit as I have a NSW license?

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Thanks OB. Last fine was here in NSW last year. Last year's fine was first for about 12 years.

Just to clarify, was the infringement from a speed camera or police radar?
Victorian speed cameras typically record a detected speed and the police traffic camera office deduct 3 km to allow for speedo variations, resulting in an 'alleged' speed, so I'm tipping you may have been actually detected at 108 km/h.
What OB is referring to is called a 'review'.
If you haven't had a speeding fine in the past 2 years (or other driving offences) being under 10km/h over the speed limit, you can request a review, which in most cases results in just an official warning.
You do need to accept you were at fault and be remorseful.. blah blah.
If you don't qualify for a review... I'd suggest you just wear it.

Thanks mtv. I was going to wear it anyway as I was caught last year. Looks like I cop the demerit. I googled this:
What if I commit a demerit point offence while driving outside of NSW?
Australian States and Territories exchange traffic offence information. This means that if you hold a NSW licence and commit an offence in another State, the offence will attract demerit points in NSW.

Yep... either OB was bloody lucky, or it was some time ago, as reciprocal demerit points have been in for quite a while.

I got booked in QLD a couple of years ago, and didn't lose points off my NSW licence (or more correctly, didn't accrue any demerit points). It probably helped that the copper wrote the wrong licence number on the sheet though. I did pay the fine, but that's a separate department.

This might help (site is run by a Victorian barrister specialising in traffic law):
If you commit a demerit points offence in Victoria while holding an interstate licence, then your local state's driving authority will record the same demerit points against you that would have been recorded if that offence had been committed in your home state (provided it is a points offence on your home state). So you will have points recorded against you in Victoria as well as in your home state. An interstate licence holder who commits a lot of demerit point offences in Victoria will be dealt with in their home state. VicRoads can not suspend an interstate licence or disqualify that driver. If you transfer your Victorian licence to an interstate licence prior to a VicRoads demerit points suspension commencing on your Victorian licence the licence suspension will not come into effect until you next obtain a Victorian licence. It is not possible to transfer a licence which is under suspension.

The system to transfer points has been in effect for many years.
Though a few people I know who have had interstate fines have not had them transferred when they have paid the fine on time.
One friend did argue the point had the request ignored and still copped the fine and the points.
These examples are all older than 5 years so I don't know if anything has changed.
Trivial fines I find are harder to argue than big ones. If I have to wear it, then I punish the government responsible by avoiding them.
A parking fine in Liverpool, I don't go there anymore for any reason. And it wasn't even my fine. I was just pissed at them for fining the person who borrowed my car and still wasn't doing anything wrong. My car had two differentials, so it was cause to issue a fine. No FVCK off Liverpool council.
When I saw somebody burned down the council chambers and they suspect it was because of a parking fine. Yep, I do not find that one hard to believe.
Queensland, I copped a trivial $60 fine and when I complained, they added $20 to it.
I stopped holidaying in Queensland twice a year and didn't go back for 12 years.
It doesn't mean shit to the big picture and I might be getting arse raped, but it doesn't mean I have to smile.
That was 25 years ago and it still has some influence on my decision to holiday there in the future.
And while I haven't copped a fine in Victoria, it has a reputation for traffic fines that makes the Singapore government envious.
So in a similar way, it discourages me from going there. That and some of you idiots live there
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.

No one I know has ever had NSW or QLD demerit points deducted in the ACT IF the fine is paid on time. Myself, my wife and others have had a few interstate and not lost a point.
I have always paid the fines on time as I for one am a bit of a leadfoot on the open road, especially going up to QLD and I regard fines as a fair cop. I suspect that in NSW, as long as they get your loot on time a flag isn't tripped and the points don't transfer.
Could be wrong of course, but that's been my experience.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

The only people I know who have had points transferred into NSW have been drivers that hold national heavy vehicle licences. I don’t know of any car licence holder who has had points transferred from interstate to a NSW licence.
The provisions are obviously there for points transfers to NSW to occur, but from my experience (and it seems the experience of other here) the transfer does not occur automatically.

what a bunch of turds - they give themselves a tolerance of 3% for thier detection equipment , which is regularly tested and calibrated , but they dont give motorists any tolerance for thier car speedo which could be 10% out at factory and has no way of being tested or calibrated.
The speedo in my Prado reads 108 when im actually doing 100 which is lucky for me but i know my old Falcon which read too slow
Keith (15-06-19)
Not to mention the amount of 4WD's that go up 1 or 2 tyre sizes
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Keith (15-06-19)
well changing up tyre sizes is on the head of the driver. My Ranger speedo is out 8kph at 100. I could go up a tyre size no probs and still be within spec.
Update. Received a warning and fine was squashed. Thanks to those that contributed.
