    Default Trying out Linux

I'm interested in Linux. Mainly curious. What is the best Linux to use ( i heard there are many versions, im not sure) for someone who wants to mess around and just want something new to play around with since i can't play with Vista yet.
Something that is almost as functional as Win XP.

Linux is a Unix-like computer operating system family which uses the Linux kernel. Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free software and open source development; typically all the underlying source code can be freely modified, used, and redistributed by anyone.

Look for Linux " live disks"and download the iso from the web sites . This is a disk that boots your computer in Linux without putting anything on the hard drive. You can then play with the linux system access all your hard drives ,browse the internet .get your email and all the other things you normally do without Windows knowing about it and telling Bill Gates.

Mandriva is one I prefer but Red Hat , Ubuntu , Suse ,Puppy etc all have one .
I have a Puppy system on a 1 Gig USB plugin which boots into any machine and lets me look through any unencrypted system. Lots of things you can get for Linux
