Vista Install Hangs

AMD 6000+
2gb Ram
250gb Hdd sata
256mb Ati Video card
JWTN56 mainboard,Nforce, same prob with abit, and asus boards.
2 sata dvd
I can install Xp without a hitch.
Vista install hangs on every screen to serial number...like 10min + hangs.
When reboots just hangs left for an hour.
You can move mouse, hour glass is on, hdd light is on.....
Got me rooted, to tired need a drink.

Have you got another hard drive to try.

Mine did this just before the HDD die, I had XP installed on it, and it would boot a few times, then refused with a system error. then when I booted from the Vista install disk it would hang. 20 mins later the hard drive died.
It was full of bad sectors.

I had a similar problem, I took the HDD out and formated it on another computer then stuck it back in, vista was installed with no problems.

These are all brand new parts, so hdd is not dying

Problem solved.
Hooked up IDE DVD Drive to do the install.
Must be some problem with sata drives under Vista.
