Default Custom format CF card copy

An industrial system at work uses Compact Flash cards to store a machine's firmware & configuration. There is a manufacturer's process to backup the configuration and update firmware, but it's time consuming, not intuitive and very convoluted. And... they use a custom format on the CF card. Putting it into a USB card reader on PC results in Windows instructing that the card should be formatted before use.
It would be so much easier if the CF card could be copied at a low level for backup purposes / firmware upgrades.
I was told that Easeus might have something suitable, but they only seem to have recovery software, not something that'll backup non-standard data.

Is there any such software that can do this?

    Default

download HXD put card into usb adapter run HXD open disk as a physical disk.
highlight disk memory address 00000 to whatever in 4gb blocks if card is 2gb just highlight the hole thing save to clipboard you can save it as a file or put new card in and dump clipboard and write.
make sure you are in write mode default mode is no write to keep the kids out for a bit.
