Default Mobile phone problem any help appreciated

    Hi all,

I have a Samsung flip phone that is maybe 7 or more years old. It is running out of battery power almost every day.

My guess is its in it final death throes.

Being an absolute newbie to mobile phones, if I get a new phone will I loose my number? will all my call credits get wiped? I have been with Telstra since I bought the thing and have a heap of credits built upon it. (I only make 1 or 2 outgoing calls monthly)

Or - this is what I would really love, I take the card out of this one and stuff it into my new one and everything is just as if nothing has changed.

Also all the spammers I have blocked will I have to start blocking again?

I don't need anything fancy as a replacement but I like the flip phone especially when I sit on the thing! (not on purpose).

Any recommendations will be appreciated, or if any of you guys have one that works and would suit my needs - it does not have to be brand new. Please note My phone charger is usb so the next one must be compatible or I will be more stuffed than I am at the moment.

Hope to hear from a member soon Ta muchly in advance.

    Luv and kisses as always.

Just about all the data like contacts, your phone number etc should be on the Sim card so it is as easy as just plugging the Sim into another phone which then becomes your phone with all your remaining credit intact. Complications are usually things like how much of that data is on the Sim and how much is in the phone's memory but shouldn't be much of an issue on a 7 year-old phone. Another thing is the size of the Sim itself (standard, mini or nano) but Telstra can clone yours to a new one of the size you need no problem at a Telstra store.

is good for replacement batteries if you want to keep the old phone - just plug in your make & model on their website and they can deliver it in a few days. Maybe not genuine but my experience is their batteries are good quality.

    Cheers mate,

I just ordered a genuine C5220 from Ausbatteries Cost me almost $35 including tracked postage - I just hope it is a battery problem and NOT something else

Have somebody check your contacts are being saved to the sim card in case one day you brick the phone.
That way you can just take the sim and put it in another phone and your contacts will follow.

those phones default is save to sim and it tells you how many free slots are left.
KIES with USB cord was a pain in the ass.
i think the sims used in them was 5V so wont work or fit in newer phones 3.3V / 1.8V.
