If you haven’t done it already, take screen shots of the original post and any “likes” or replies that it received. Also save copies of anything on your own page that gives away who your employer is. Keep a diary of who has said what, where, when and who witnessed it. It all may come in handy if things go South.
To help prevent things like this happening in the future, crank up the privacy on your FaceBook, so only “friends” can see your photos and things you post on your own FaceBook page.
Nothing to do with this incident, but do set up a decent FB password and turn on two-factor authentication. If anyone else gets in to your account, it’s very hard to fix and FaceBook are of no help at all. I tried to help someone who had their FaceBook page “hacked”. FaceBook just deleted her ten years worth if photos, posts and chat sessions. All gone and nothing you can do. I guess you get what you pay for!
This is why I don't have a Facewaste account in my own name. Fk them and their rules. This is exactly why anonymity is important. Also why I don't use that overbearing site any more than I have to and why I think the whole thing is a scam in itself. It's all about tracking you and selling your info to target you for advertising and god knows what else.
Daughter got a Promo at work on Tuesday. She's moving along in the new company quite Quickly. An opening became available after the former guy in the position rang in sick .... and then posted pics of him sitting at a beachfront bar/ restaurant with his GF and saying what a lovely day they were having. Might have been OK if half the staff weren't friends including his boss and the head manager.
I'd sack anyone that worked for me that did that just because they would be too dangerous to have around if they were that damn stupid.
I've taken screen shots of everything in case it goes any further.
I don't post stupid shit like me sitting on the beach if I'm having a sickie, only just give bad reviews lol
I asked HR for the social media policy and they couldn't supply it saying the company policies are dynamic. hmmm

No Lawyer but i'm pretty sure unless something is written, dated and made available to those that it concerns, it's a complete and utter load of bullshit.
As plainly obvious here.
I'd sure be noting the time and date of that AND I would be sending an email requesting the policy be provided within a couple of hours as your Legal advisor has requested it.
I love HR people. They are more full of Bullshit than any sales department.

I bought a coffee yesterday and had my work shirt on with logo etc. Been buying coffee there on and off for a while and nice coffee! They now use these plastic cups instead of ceramic or whatever people generally use. I was going to say when leaving that their old cups were much better, the plastic makes you feel like a 7yo lol. Where is the line?
Well, if they haven't informed you of a social media policy, none exists. My employer will run you through a day's course (eg code of conduct) or if it's a minor new or altered policy, do a toolbox talk on the policy/change and get you to sign that you have received and understood it. That way, if they catch you breaching the policy and the worse happens, dismissal, they have documented proof you were instructed and signed saying you understood. If you haven't received a copy or signed a document saying you are aware of such policy, I feel you need not be concerned. BUT, I'm no industrial lawyer, so don't take what I say as gospel. Good luck with it.
You can learn alot using Google, and the search button.....

True that - and dont forget that 100% of the time they will take managements side , not the employees side. When i worked for Macquarie the head HR faggot there never once stood up for the employees , knowing full well they were in the right. Until one day when he got the arse himself , then he was all over FB telling the world how bad the place was. Hallo fag - you were the one supporting that same bad management.
dont expect any help from the union either , if the workplace has one. they have turned out to be management stooges nowadays

It's not even that which I mind. I expect that. the thing that gets me is they in my limited but colourful experience tend to be a bunch of snot nose, stuck up high and mighty turds that have an answer for everything and hold people to standards they don't come near meeting themselves. If you have done anything they don't like, then it is deemed wrong by some concocted and impractical reasoning in what you should have done what they could pose the scenario to 1000 people and no one would even think of it.
Inevitably the whole situation came about through no fault of your own, generally a management/ procedural fault but you are supposed to sole the issue somone else created or didn't account for on the spot and then they put the shit on you when you didn't.
The ones I have delt with have all been offensive prats that needed a good smack in the face to knock them off their high horses.
They must all get training in how to have a holier than thou attitude and qualify for their uni courses by being the most un popular whiny tattle tales in every school they ever went to.
I am pretty sure what Keith says holds a lot of water.
If they dismissed you for not following a policy you claim you never saw, they said they can't provide and also have no proof you or anyone else ever saw it, then at worst you may loose your Job, but you would be taking a year or 3's wages with you after you took them for unfair dismissal.
in dealings that i have been involved with in relation
to and employee breaking xxx work policy rules and had to issue
a letter of warning etc i found out through arbitration that
1: the person must be handed a copy of the current rules - policy etc
2: if this was different than when the started you needed to show that
they had been advised in writing.
3: that prior to the warning a face to face meeting about the issue
had to have taken place with a witness present to get all sides of the story.

Quite, however if they knew anything about how it works, there would be a policy in place and they would know they are required to provide it if asked and actually be protecting the companies butt as they are paid for.
Be interesting to see if they have an OH&S procedure documented and other such things.
