As we are on the ORIFICE topic. I've just made a slideshow in L.O. Impress, do any of you know how to convert it to a standalone?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
Nah, I meant Impress, which is the L.O. equivalent of PPT.

What he means that you can save an Impress in L.O. as ppt or pptx or what ever Microsoft version you need and it should run on a free standalone Powerpoint player that you can install on Windows machines without office.
I am not aware of any standalone player for Linux but L.O. is free so what is the point?
Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.

Painstakingly save each slide as a .jpg image. Then you know it can play on anything.
Probably more painstaking to watch these things than just clicking the screenshot button at every image and shoving them all in a folder for the photo viewer of your choice or mounting then them in an animated GIF with some preset delay or something.
If it is for an unattended presentation/display why even mess around with a PC? Run it in a Pi.

I am well aware of potential solutions. I was hoping that I could develop an automated solution in Linux, but, manually changing slides works for me.

So, you're trying to make something that will just play on it's own, slide-by-slide, that you can just start-up and then leave to run through the slides by itself?
Sounds like you just need to use a timer for each slide? You can still save in whatever format (.odp, .pptx). I was kidding with the .jpg images, but if you do do that there are some photo-viewers that will also play pictures on a loop without you having to do anything.

Hey guys,
Was able to install Office 2010 on my Ubuntu distro, but not 2013. Can't seem to install Visio either.
Found something else though, it's called "Dia" which you can find just by doing a search in Software. Looks nice what I've seen so far.
And QCAD also looks pretty cool too nomeat, thanks for that tip.
