I'd always remembered you saying this when i was looking for a 4WD a few years ago
Since then, i've meet a Grey nomad couple, they have owned the Diesel 4WD and Caravan set up, then the Toyota Coaster Bus (FTE)
After all the travelling they have done, guess what they run now.... Ford RTV Ute. 1 Tonne payload, Factory Diff lock, 80mm factory lift, Comfy as to drive, economy as you have explained, cheap to service and parts dirt cheap and everywhere!
They tow a light weight camper with ease.... I just saw one of these for sale in my area for $3000 recently with bugger all ks on it
Sure, its no Dual Cab (BTW, a vehicle trying to do 3 things at once and none of them very well, ever sat in the back of dual cab at 6'2" and 110kg?)
That Hilux Petrol you had, the Auto sounds 100% like a 200 series Landcruiser, just another Toyota f#$k up you need to spend $1300 to get right

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
The EGR delete cable is a small patch cable with a resistor fitted which fools the ECU into thinking the EGR valve is working properly. The valve is actually closed with the cable plugged in.
Hoe , that 6th gear thing is common to 2015+ Toyotas , it keeps the engine spinning faster to keep up the DPF temps. Can be bypassed with a Stocklock unit , which allows normal operation.
Isuzu don't have a dpf Don't chip get a ecu change after you Chisell out the dpf
