Default Bangabandhu 1 at 119.1°E, which LNB is used ?

C-Band frequencies are from 4.6 to 4.8 Ghz. To get anything on a run of the mill (L Band) receiver would need an LNB with a local oscillator 6100Mhz or something similar... Does anybody knows the type of LNB used for this satellite ?

Yes they are available Norsat produce them at reasonable prices, try some of the euro resales.

    Norsat 5200I Series INSAT C-Band PLL LNB (4.5 - 4.8 GHz

Just not sure if the footprint reaches as far as Australia.

    Thanks, I'll give it a go, 5750 - 4600 = 1150MHz well within the range of L band receivers.

No GO using One Cable Solution LNB for the simple reason that the 5750 Local Oscillator outputs 1550Mhz (= 4.2GHz) to 2050MHz (3.7GHz).
Given the Bangabandhu 1 frequency range is from 4.5 (=L band 1250Mhz) to 4.8GHz (=L band 950MHz) this L band range is coming from the 5150 Local Oscillator, hance no go.
I am having a 5950 LNB send from Bangladesh and will report outcome soon.

I tried a dedicated 4500-4800 5950 LNB sent to me by a euro friend a month or so ago and there is NO sign of a signal on the West Coast. I did a complete Clarke belt arc search and nothing else found. The footprint data I managed to find shows it being very tight around the Bangladesh/Indian region

Unfortunately, there appears to be very little available information on the web.

The official website (in English) of the operator, Bangladesh Communication Satellite Limited, is at .

Perhaps the Bangla (non-English) version is more informative?

An e-mail inquiry to might be the best way to obtain further information regarding footprints and anticipated signal levels.

And so to all the Bangladeshis living in Australia, it is with deep regret to inform you. There's NO reception from Bangabandhu 1 at 119.1°E, in Australia The current active C band beam doesn't cover Australia. I spend a couple of hours scanning the area using a 2.3m dish and good (live real time) spectrum analyser. As a matter of interest the 5950 LNB is smaller than the standard 5150.
