just signed up mate , though as you say i doubt if it will do any good. The GCCC dont give a flying hoot about anything more than 20 years old and Burleigh has to be one the last remaining pockets of normality.
I'm not really one for this type of thing
But this building holds wonderful memories for our family and i'm sure many others
Of a time when the Gold Coast was a great place to be.
Our family started a Health Food shop in the '80s then became part of the Mexican restaurant at the rear
I'm sure the building is now old and run down, but it seems like the last bit of old school Gold Coast to me.
If anyone is interested in saving it
There is a petition here:
I have no idea what a petition would do, probably bugger all.
But it is there if anyone would like to add a voice

i signed but Tom Tate and his cronnies dont give a toss its
all about GLITTER for the gc.They have stuffed the area and dont care.
you just have to look at how much they are pushing to
have a international shipping terminal for cruise ships and
are willing to totally destroy the broadwater to get it done

Yeah, seems to be the way up north
Last year i visited Cairns and Port Douglas, prior to that it was 4 years or so since i'd been there
All the nice old general stores or timber pubs had been pulled down to make way for builders fencing and 3 story units
I'm honestly surprised the Old Burleigh Theatre is still there considering.
Just like what is happening around here, the international investor is having his way, slowly but surely.
