    Default NX4 possibilities

    Hi Guys,
I have an NX4 alarm panel, with 3 wired sensors, outdoor light and internal screamer.
Before i pay for a tech to come out, i would like to know if the following is possible on the NX4, as i've heard its possible on the NX8's and above

1 - I would like to make zone 4 a momentary key switch, so i can connect this to a z-wave dry contact relay
2 - have 2 outputs programed, to indicate the state of the panel, One being being armed/disarmed and the other if the strobe light is on/off - i'm assuming these outputs would just be a NO/NC output?

    Thanks for your help
    Adam

Zone 4 might be in use for outside siren box tamper.

Depends if yours is NX4 or NX8 generally they were all NX8.
You would need a relay card as the NX4/8 has no spare outputs, to do the armed/disarmed state.
That being said not 100% sure if the NX4/8 will support a relay module. But they do only support 1 extra module.

    Thanks for the reply secure

I have looked at the panel, Its labeled DAS NX4 (NX8)

The 4th zone only has a resistor between Z4 and COM
The siren terminal and both AUX terminals have cabling - i'm guessing siren is indoor screamer and one of the AUX is for external strobe, not sure what would be on the other AUX terminal.

Is the key switch option doable, since Z4 is empty?

perhaps, time to just call the alarm company!
    Cheers

I see this thread is 6 months old, though there is no outcome

Yes you can key-switch Zone 4, you will need to use a 3K3 resistor to seal the zone & change zone type to "30" (feature 18)
I assume you are using the z-wave connection to arm/disarm the panel? correct
the key-switch may require a "pulse" signal (approx 1 second) rather than a momentary ......... not 100% sure though

The wiring you are referring to is
    Siren: is outdoor Siren V+
    Com: is outdoor Siren V-
Aux 1: is Strobe V- (Strobe V+ connects to POS/term7)
    Aux 2: Internal Screamer V- (Screamer V+ to POS/Term7)

You may be able to use Aux 1: output to indicate Strobe Status. Keep in mind, by default when panel is in alarm state Aux 1&2 are pulled to ground.
Another option, with Feature 22 > Segment 2 > Option 6 On - Enables Strobe Flashes for 3 seconds for Key-Switch Arming & 6 Seconds for Disarming

Alternatively: the Outdoor Siren Output is also an option. Feature 22 > Segment 1 > Option 3/4/8 On - Enables....
Option 3: Siren Blast at Arming - (Siren Chirps when an Area is Armed)
Option 4: Siren Blast at Exit Expiration - (Siren Chirps when an Area's Exit Delay is completed)
    Option 8: Siren Blast 1x for Key-Switch Arming & 2x for Disarming)

Keep in mind the Outdoor Siren Output activation is limited to a maximum of 5 minutes (regulation), however the Strobe & Internal Screamer activation is indefinite.

    I hope this helps
