    Is the igniter working?
I don't know your model exactly, but it will likely have a hot surface igniter that glows red hot at start up, or a continuous pilot flame ( easy to fix) or a spark-to-pilot-flame (newer designs)
See if you can confirm the igniter is doing its part first...

It has and electronic igniter i think, it lights ok then the word error appears on the lcd then it tries to start again and after 3 tries it stops. Had no issues right up until power went off for 12 hrs Wednesday/Thursday, i tried a manual reset and just does the same.
I'll have to get some one out which i loathe as i bet its something simple.

sounds to me as if the photoeye is dirty so it can see the flame after its lit and this keeps it going , or it tries to ignite again some times the eye gets crud on it if its going and the power goes off the fan stops but theres still unburnt fuel in its guts this produces black smoke and that gets on the eye

Yep this was my next thought.
The PLC is not getting confirmation that the flame is established....?

After finding a manual for it and found a line that mentions that if the heater doesnt sense airflow it will shutdown after 3 tries, i do regularly vacuum the filter but i took it out last night so i could clean it and bugger me the heating came on with the time this morning.
Filter didn't look over clogged but i think there may have been a large cardboard box covering the vent which was moved later, a fuse did blow either as the power went out or after which i replaced but assumed there was another problem, anyway the best fix is a free fix so that's a sigh of relief.

Just to keep this rolling, near the end of winter last year the heater stopped again. At least on this model it has an LCD screen and gives you an error code, MOTOR OC 60 which means the fan motor has gone open circuit. I didn't look at it again until last week as the weather has been awesome, did some googling and found that on similar models you get this error code when a resistor blows on the board.
Down to Jaycar for a 47K ohm 2 watt resistor which they didn't have so used 2 x 100 ohm 1 watts in parallel and we are back and running just in time for the shitty weather.

If u need someone to look at it in ne melb these people are great, I brought a Brivis ducted system installed myself, went for about a week and failed. Rang Darebin, they came out next morning, checked, fixed and all done under warranty.

If this gives me any grief i think i'll rip it out and look for an alternative, gas prices are crazy.

I take it that should read 2 X 100K ohms.
