Tim Fischer has passed away from Leukaemia, aged 73, one of the few politicians I actually liked RIP Tim.
Cheers

Thanks for posting Al.
Tim Fischer was one of the last truly bona fide representative lower house politicians.
A very humble polymath who could mix with his constituents at any level.
In these days of career party politicians, he should stand as a beacon of how to be a representative.
Once upon a time I held firm political beliefs, but age has wearied me and I'm now agnostic (a pox on all their houses).
Vale, the Honourable Member, Mr Tim Fischer.
BTW, loved listening to him talk about trains

I remember an interview with a couple of pollies years ago. Tim Fisher and a labour guy who's name I forget were the only ones not to use the gold card that they were issued.
Fisher said he took one look at the thing and thought "this is trouble" and tossed it in his top drawer and never used it. His staff were under strict instructions to make no claims against entitlements, but rather just forward everything to the Department of Finance and let them decide what he was entitled to. All other payments he made himself.
RIP.....

One of the genuine Politicians that was there for Australia and it's citizens. R.I.P
I know little of him. I do think that many politicians enter the fray to serve the people, along the way, however....... It is still a sad day for all who knew him
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

A very decent bloke who always put his country first. He was conscripted to Vietnam and served as a second lieutenant with 1 RAR. A month after arriving he was wounded according to Wikipedia (the Australian Government roll has him in Vietnam at that time so I have no reason to doubt it).
It was a fair old bun fight that went for 26 days. North Vietnamese and Viet Cong casualties in AO Surfers included 267 killed confirmed by body count, 60 possibly killed, 7 wounded and 11 captured, while Australian losses were 25 killed and 99 wounded.
Another loss of a quality Australian, who will no doubt be replaced by some shithead migrant who wipes his feet on our face.
R.I.P. Tim
