Default Looking for a mobile phone TV adaptor

    Hi All
i'm looking for one of those small micro usb adaptor thingos which allows me to watch TV on my Samsung Galaxy 5.
I used to have one which i bought on fleebay which used the OTG function , and an app called PadTV or something like that. It was working well till a few months ago and now it no longer works. I dont know why it stopped i tried reloading the app with no success.

there are quite a fiew others available but i dont know if they will have the same issue or not.

does anybody have a link to one i can buy?

    thanks

that was exactly what i have , but it was like $5 on ebay not the $60 that Altonics wanted. I dont know why it stopped maybe some problem with the app. Similar ones are still available but most likely will have the same issue

Out of interest, how was the TV experience when it worked?
Would it work while driving (obviously for the back seat passengers) I find the OEM Vehicle units break up when you are driving.

    Where would you use it?

it worked ok , i only used it while at a campsite though. Running the TV really kills your battery , and having the module plugged in means you cant recharge your phone at the same time . Tried using various charging adaptors with no joy

This one from my research is the most reliable and well supported. The App is quite good and updated when necessary:

Best place to buy for full deal is:
This one is USB C, and is also available in microUSB.
With a proper OTG cable with power, you shouldn't have any issues powering at the same time.
Ol'boy anything is going to break up while driving. There is no such thing as an omni directional TV aerial despite what they like to advertise. You also have the issue of horizontal and vertical polarisation. Best way is to use the Internet and stream.

Support for charging while using data transfer on Android phones is inconsistent - some will do it if a certain resistance is present across two of the pins, others won't no matter what, etc. I suspect OTG support either does not specify hub behavior or not all phones adhere to it completely, as I've tried this across Samsung, Google, OnePlus and Lenovo phones.

The is the best way to watch TV on a phone, now that it streams all FTA channels, which is probably why more and more phones no longer support external tuners. Of course, if you're at a campsite it's possible that you're getting DTV but not 4G, I suppose! (On the plus side, there's almost nothing watchable left on broadcast TV channels these days)

It's just like how MHL and Slimport adapters went away when Android made Chromecast and Miracast standard in the OS, rather than just a Samsung trick. At the time I had a use case for wired HDMI connections and was bummed that they were replaced with higher-overhead wireless ones, but...
