    Default bridge rectifier

    have a bridge rectifier mb10s
120vac 50hz supply has what looks like a 220ohm resistor in series on 1 leg of the mb10s - when I replace the 220ohm resistor 1watt it cooks/smokes on power up??
shouild I be looking further in for a fault??

Without seeing the circuit, check the bridge rectifier for shorted diodes.
I take it that you have checked for a short circuit after the bridge rectifier or stuffed filter cap.

You might have more success if you post some pics of the device, and any circuit diag you may have. 10nF is not a filter cap, 106nF is still too small for a filter cap. You may be misreading components.
