Have a look on eBay - there are plenty of IPTV boxes there.
Does anybody know of a dedicated IPTV set top box. I know they exist, I used one at a motel while on holiday in the USA.
There are plenty of Android and other media devices on the market that are capable of running an IPTV apps to stream and watch IPTV. These work great but older people like my parents have issues. The set top box I used while overseas was a dedicated box. For the first couple of days I thought it was a fextel box until I looked at the back and saw it only had a network cable. Im sure this was a "strong" brand but all searches only show their media player.
I need one of these for my parents to use as they struggle with the android systems.

Correct, lots and lots but every supplier I have contacted on Ebay have advised they are either Linux, android or like that have a IPTV app installed and running on the OS. When the boxs are powered up you need to start the app.
I am looking for a dedicated IPTV only decoder. Just like a fox box. No need to start app, no chance of accidentally exiting out back to a home screen needing to re start the app and no other unneeded apps that could be accidentally started.
IPTV only.
It is pretty common practise for TV distribution in Motels or Aged Care facilities to have it all IP transmitted within the building
One central server room with all the inputs then out on an ethernet cable to each room
I can't remember the end user box they used, but as you say, it was just a dedicated IPTV set top box for each room
Easy for anyone to use
No Apps
Just turn it on and roll through the channels
I think they have access control built in too
Something like this

Damb. I think your right. I give up how many times they accidentally exit out altogether or hit the wrong button.
I may need to look at a Raspberry Pi custom build. ill post any updates I have.
The installation i was in they did it that way
They had 4 Sat Dishes on different birds for different packages...
Then Digital FTA
Then local VOD
Then local Info channels
It was all handled in the locked server room and was disturbed by ethernet cable to the end user rooms
No RG6, No modulation....
