Maybe I should send one down to you to try on the Novra for GK-2A HRIT?
You have the Novra receiver and the working Kencast which I don't, although a $25 box that with I hope I can eventually make into a WX sat receiver arrived today.
Strong looking signal you have there hca.

GK-2A HRIT is CCSDS. I didn't think the Novra would work with that? UHRIT is DVB-S2, but it's up on X-band 8GHz and needs a 3.5 - 6.5m dish.
Ok I dont know, but it maybe explains the spiked data signal up the band a bit, I see on Sams page similar. Getting hands on with these signals is all new ground for me and there is so much material to churn through. Sams been working on HRIT so I think its time to consult with him.
However one the 2 chip wonder $20 receivers arrived yesterday the GX6622 ethernet one, the GX6605s is in transit still. Also I have the development board on the way from Ali express and one of those 10eu pci cards in process. I found a tool that opened firmware into the linux file systems but yet to mount them in a linux box.
Still short on some info on the 2 chips but everything looks encouraging for now. These receivers boot from a bios in an SPI flash and apparently will boot on a usb stick. From this pix you can see its simple enough, so first thing is to map out the interconnections of interest. Its all going to take some time.
I put the compete howto for converting the Indovision S band LNBs to L band LNAs on my unused github for anyone interested. Its dead easy with due care.
BTW, converting a cheap DVBS2 box for Himawari HRIT is looking up in most respects and down in others.
For now learning to interpret GK_2A images to real time conditions which is quite useful for us. Thanks for starting the topic.
If some one wants one of these lnb's yell out and I will see how much to send one down by registered post.

Hi all, Just wanted to jump in and say hello. I've been playing with weather sats for a bit, primarily in L band. I wanted to show you my setup which works quite well for GK-2A LRIT. I use a old FoxTel dish I found on the road from a verge side collection. Sdr is an AirSpy Mini (or RTL-SDR v3, both work) and I've got a NooElec Sawbird+ GOES. Laptop is an old ThinkPad x220. The feed is a homemade 5.5 turn helix using this (specifically the 1700L).
For software I use SatDump for signal capture and then I point that to Sam's xrit-rx. I get very good SNR with the ~70cm offset.
Here's a FD IR105 image
ir-enhanced with Sam's python script
And finally an IR image put through Sanchez post processing.
Recently I picked up a 190cm prime dish and I suspect I'll make an attempt at HRIT sometime in the near future. Been spending more time recently getting Elektro-L3 LRIT images though as they're RGB and quite pretty. But that's another thread I guess!
