    It’s been in place with PayPal for more than 2 years. It was likely in place when you added the card. The mechanisms behind it are used by many companies, not just PayPal.

    Surely checking the policy (it’s in plain English, not ‘lawyer’ speak) that you have agreed to would be the first place to start before making ridiculous claims that PP is a ‘spy agency’, or wasting your time ‘annoying’ (your own words) PP, your bank, your credit provider, the Ombudsman and anyone else you or others were going to harass.

    i am thinking a web tracker grabbed the numbers.
    My old card expired at the end of Aug, I have used Paypal twice since then and the new card at least half a dozen times.
    I just looked ... and my old card details are still shown in my paypal info.

    i purchased something on aliexpress and it was about 12 hours later i got the email from paypal saying my card details have been updated.
    it is a mastercard.

    I'm certain I also receive such e-mails, however, to my detriment, I tend to ignore them along with the number of purported ebay messages that I get telling me that my account has been locked, or the like.
    I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
