That was my era! I could have had a phaseIII for about $3k back in the late 70s. In hindsight, I wish I did. Mate had an XT GT that was pure Phase III HO including the Dash. It looked, to all intents and purposes like the 302 GT. I can't recall if he had the shaker, or not. I don't think he did or it would have ruined the sleeper aspect of it.

My dad had an XW GTHO PHII when i was a kid, sold it in 1976 to buy a more family oriented car. Recently found it again and tried to buy it back but current owner wont part with it even though he has another 2 genuine GT's.

Far better than money in the bank!
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

I had a white XT (wish I still had it) I traded it in on a "family" car. It sounded like an absolute Brute of a V8 but only had the 221 six in it. It had not be worked, but must have been a freak, because it could easily beat small block V8s in a drag. Last I heard of it was that the owner of the yard took it back to Tasmania with him.

We were talking here the other night about how much old cars have gone up.

20K for a rusted shell these days, 100K plus restored for some models, these are cars that we use to buy for under $1000 in the early 80s to bash around in.

Just the other night i almost spend 65K on something that i could have bought for 25K 5 years ago but were now selling for over 100K, just the distance to see the car to check for rust and damage and the Km were a little high for such a rare classic so i pulled out last second.

It sold minutes after i pulled out.......makes me now wonder if i did the right thing not buying it.....

Just remember Godz. NO REGRETS. If you do something and it doesn't go as well as you'd hoped, learn from it and move on. If you don't do something and later find that it would have been to your advantage, too bad. Sh*t happens, you can make great fertilizer with sh*t and you can grow lovely flowers in sh*t!
