Hi all,
Not sure if this the correct section for this post.
Would anyone have the workshop manual or circuit diagram for the Hayes Lemmerz Energizer 111 electric brake controller.
The one I have here is not working correctly as specified in the operating instructions.
Have searched WWW. but so far no luck.

What are the symptoms?
I fixed a few of those kind of devices about 30 years ago. I was amazed at how primitive they were. It was basically just a pendulum that operated a switch and the problems were usually mechanical, rather than electrical. Looking at the manual linked above, it appears to be the same kind of controller.

Not quite sure the correct setting of the pendulum as they say with the red brake wire active set the pendulum just as the Red Led goes from very bright to just to dull, this is supposed to be the correct trigger setting? if I'am reading it right.
But when I do this there is no increase current gain in the test magnet, rolling the gain wheel back and foward makes no difference but if I set the pendulum forward a bit until the Red Led just goes from the dull to bright point then the gain wheel does increase the current to the magnet.
I have the top of the controller off so I can see inside at the circuit board. The pendulum unit is a postage stamp size white nylon flap which has a small circular magnetic pin (about 1mm in dia) embedded in the lower edge.
The pin/flap passes very close to a miniature three leg Hall Effect chip,the flap will move rearward a bit if the vehicle brakes suddenly and so pumps more current into the wheel magnet/s-- it well suppose to but mine doesn't.
There are 4 transistors (which I havn't tested yet) and a 324D chip on board. Also I don't know what pots P3 and P4 do that why I would like to see the circuit.

On the Redac units when no trailer connected you get about 6 volt on the blue wire with a DVM (no Load)when you connect a load the controller is now ready to work. When you manually trigger the trailer brakes you can hear the brakes buzzing and the pitch of the buzzing changes with the level set. A globe style test light(not led) will go from dull to bright by turning the gain setting.
