Here's a little video I made last night. The picture is a little washed out because it is a live telescope projecting the image onto a projection screen and then captured with my mobile phone. I was chasing the brightest satellite when a second dimmer satellite in a lower orbit started to catch up to it. When I captured this part a third even lower satellite is seen passing through the field of view.
Three satellites, one telescope.

the earth is FLAT lol.
fake
cgi
nasa shill.
i am sure i missed other flatard comments.
It's not the Earth that's flat, that's what NASA wants you to believe by denying it.
It's actually the sky that is flat that they don't want you to know.

Just as well cos I was going to join the flat earth society thanks trash !!! now im heading for the bent sky incorporation just look around the horizon and it there as it seems a better bet as you can actually see it ??? now all I have to do is find the bloke who laid the first chicken ???? my life will be complete then sigh
if you re uploaded that video with the title "THE EARTH IS NOT FLAT look satellites"you would get heaps of nutcases from around the world to play with or just drive you crazy.
Would you like to see the telescope? <evil laugh>
Only two of these telescopes were made. This telescope belongs to my local club, the other is in the Greenwich Observatory in London, UK.
Their's currently doesn't work. Ours has been modified and upgraded by club members and it now uses a CCD camera.
This telescope is a really easy one to use. To point it you have to crank it by hand so it's fun to have some kids do it.
Usually the process in operating it is you pick an object in the sky. Look up it's position and translate that into a pointing azimuth and elevation on your phone.
Then you tell the person on each wheel to turn it until the telescope is pointing in that direction.
It has a wide field of view so it's quite easy to get it pointed in the right part of the sky.
I'm usually one of the monkeys cranking it because I've got a good spatial sense and can get it onto objects very quickly.
I let the older guys drive the software and PC for the CCD and stacking images is more their thing.
Some clear pictures of the business end of things.

renaming your youtube video was a good idea.
that needs some stepper motors added for remote moving.
other youtubers use some sort of software to capture what the computer shows on the screen you should find out what it is.
Do you have a fork lift or something to bring it outside. I don't the restriction of only viewing through the door.
Keep the hand crank monkeys, that's great.
All this automation shyte is costing people jobs.
People need to have the impression that they are important otherwise they will go off and start vandalising stuff.

you can see it was moved once but to pick something like that with a forklift is a bad idea i can see it getting tipped over and wreaked.
Yes, we do move it outside with a forklift on some occasions for better viewing.
But for the most part it is ok inside where it is at the moment. It will be moved to our new science center when it is finished and will be a bit of an attraction for the region I think.
We're pretty experienced at moving it around, pulling it apart and putting it back together now. It's mirror has been re-aluminized.
We can capture and stack images on the PC, so there is no problem there. These are just images I took with my phone for shits and giggles.

I suppose with a wide FOV it doesn't matter so much, but wouldn't motorizing the alt-az control, enable rock-steady tracking for your stacked images?
