    Default Inspect Under Solar Panels

Here's something to consider if you live near trees or where birds like to make a nest...
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

3 months ago, my cousin, who is a relic from the hippie days and who lives in out back Orbost, East Vic, had a offer too good to refuse, some second hand solar panels. A friend installed them and a week latter the house burnt to the ground, don't think this friend was qualified?
Not saying the panels or installation caused the fire, as i am sure that would have resulted in the insurance being rejected,. but some offers are not too good to be rejected
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"

certainly is , thanks for sharing. Was this one of your customers ? did the fire start at the isolating switch?

I check and clean mine regularly so it wont be an issue in my case.

How did they catch fire in the first place ?

Looking at the photo from top to bottom, there is 2 burnt, 1 not burnt, then 3 burnt.

I would say it was running a serious fault in the first place that ignited the nest material, example top 2. It then jumps a panel that obviously has no nesting material underneath, but then ignites 3 further down.

Obviously you wouldn't let all that stuff build up underneath, but its definitely not the cause of the problem given the "panel jump".

Yes definitely a fault in the wiring. and the top one is waiting for a spark to happen... They're different setup pics though..
